Comments: I served with the 1st MARDIV MPCO in iraq twice. As a gentleman on this site stated before, WE DID ALOT MORE THEN GUARD DUTY. OORAH!
Anyone who could share some history on the unit with me would be great by me.

Comments: Looking for anyone who served with my father, Al Stonehocker/Burk in Korea or Marines in general. I know he was an MP in Korea sometime between 1954-62, and that he took part in a Marine Air Grounding Excersize at Camp Pendleton in that timeframe.
I'd like to know what Unit, etc he was in. He passed away last year and was a Marine in every sense of the word right till the end - an amazing man.

Thomas Buckley wrote on 2003-02-10 14:49:11.0
Comments: While I was in Vietnam in 1969 in Danang, I served with the 1st marine mp div for three months. I'm looking to find more info about the unit. Aparrently the Veterans Administration considers the unit just a guard unit. While I served with the unit, I felt it was much more then that. Could someone fill me in on the purpose of the unit in Vietnam during the war. I was looking through some old papers and my discharge papers and it failed to mention any time with that unit. I feel that going on sweeps in Vietnames villages in the middle of the night was a lot more then guard duty. Thank you for any feed back you can offer. Thanks Tom
