Ted,

I am the editor of our company Newsletter, "H-3-5 News". We have
located over 300 men and have had four reunions the past our years.
We were in Korea from the get-go, so the period of time we are
concerned with is 1950 to 1953.

I have tried unsuccessfully to obtain the casuality lists from several
different places, Marine Corps Historical, Records Center, etc.

I ran across your name while surfing this morning; any assistance
will be gratefully appreciated . I don't have any place else to search.

Sincerely,

Jim Ratliff

My father served in the 5th Marines, 3rd Bat., Hal Co. If you could
forward the information on this unit to me it would be greatly
appreciated. His name is Donald H. Sanders.

He was supposed to be in an artillery div. during the first landing at
Inchon. He was only 17 so they left him in Japan. Hal, I think
the service you are doing for our American Vets is very commendable.

Thanks.

Wounded in abdomen while in action on February 14, 1951. Died as

1st cousin, Robert Gordon Hanson, who was killed in action during
the Korean War. She has little information about him except what I
provided via a military computer index. I do know that he held the
rank of PFC in the US Marine Corps Reserve and was reported killed
on 3 December 1950. His service number was 1053899, date of birth
was 24 September 1930 and home of residence was Seal Beach,
California.

No information is known about his military organization or location
of death. I am strictly assuming that PFC HANSON was a member
of the 1st Marine Div and was possibly killed in action in the vicinity
of the Chosin Reservoir.

Any information about his military organization would be greatly

Sal Naimo is trying to find the corpman who patched him up in 1951.

The New Jersey veteran was originally assigned to the motor pool with
H Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division,
then was sent to Hill 1120 as a replacement. A motar shell exploded
and sent a hunk of metal into his left knee.

In the heat of battle he was treated by "Doc" Ambrose, a navy corpman
assigned to the Marine Corp unit. "Doc" stabilized Sal, then
transferred him to the USS Constellation.

Sal Naimo has never received his Purple Heart! He has requested copies
of his medical and military records from St.Louis, but the information
is missing about his wounds. He bears the scars, but not the medal.

From the USS Constellation he was transferred to a Navy hospital in
Japan where he remained for 3 weeks before being reassigned to another
unit, also in Japan.

Sal needs to find someone who remembers him (preferably "Doc" Ambrose)
who can verify that he was wounded. He has written to three sitting
presidents about his plight, but has yet to receive any reply.

Sal, a retired police chief now living in Florida, was honorably
discharged in 1952 at the age of 21, and was awarded a presidential
unity citation, and the Korean Medal, but, at the time, didn't think
about the Purple Heart. He wants what is due him. Can anyone out
there help? Anyone?
