W-4 Manuel Fredrick "Chick" Gutierrez
I am looking for anyone that may have come in contact with my
father, W-4 Manuel Fredrick "Chick" Gutierrez,USMC(Iwo Jima)
(Korea), USMCR Camp Pendlton,CA. Also was a Sgt. in the
LAPD Robbery Homicide Division. He died in 1972 at the age of
45. I was 7 at the time. I figure a good way to learn about my dad
is to find somebody besides family and close friends who can tell
me what he was like in the Corp.
Iwish I had more info such as unit#, but the "Korean War Project"
popped up I had to get my messege through.
Thank You for the help.

Sir, My father served in Korea as a U.S. Marine. He was one of the
bunch that survived the Frozen Campaign. Unfortunately he passed
away last year. I was wondering if there was a data base to enter
him into for others that might search for him or if you keep track of
deceased Korean Vets.
His name was Francis Dean Hunter.

His name was ANDREW (ANDY) GEORGE MACDONALD.
He was a Navy corpsman assigned to the 1st Marine Division. I do
not have particular unit information (Regiment, etc.), but do have
a card which certifies his service in the Division that was signed
by a Major T.W. PEARSON. Any information that could be provided
would be greatly appreciated, as he died in 1972, a time when I was
far too young to understand and question him about his service in
the war.
I an no longer using e-mail on a regular basis. Therefore, please

Both had told me someday they would tell me about the war and the cold
but God called them home to be safe and warm. My uncle was a POW but
escaped some how and all my father would say " it got cold and they
can't play bugles worth a Damm'.
I may do well to just leave it alone and accept the silence but I
wanted to make one try .

Working on Family History and would like info on Sgt. Donald J. Husson.
He was my 2d cousin. He served in Korea with the 1st Marine Division,
not sure what Marine Regiment though.
I knew that he was at the Chosin Resevior. Family says he was writing
home telling them he was safe in the rear, then letters stopped.
It wasn't til he got out of the Chosin that he told the family where
he'd been. Don never talked of his service, but once and that was to
tell me, a young Marine at the time, what the Corps was about and to
give me a pair of Sgt stripes. I wore those and passed them on to my
brother. I hope someone out there can tell me what unit he was with.
Thanks and Semper Fi!

My father, M/Sgt. Carl Donald Stancil served in the USMC for nearly 30
years. He passed away February 2, 1997. I have letters he wrote to his
family during his time of service, many from the front lines of Korea.
I'm hoping to write my father's biography, partly based on these
letters. I need a better understanding of the various battles and
campaigns of the Korean War, as well as a better understanding of the
time line. I've obtained his records from the military, but I do not
understand many of the acrynoms and abbreviations used.
I'd appreciate communicating with a veteran of the USMC who served in
Korea - someone who will kindly allow me to ask questions and help me
gain an insight to my father's years in Korea.
I'm not sure which unit he was in, although most of his non-war time
was spent at Camp Lejeune, NC. I believe I recall someone telling me he
was with 2nd Anglico. I know he worked with the gunners to help
determine how many degrees off target they were.
Please email at carlah@mindspring.com.

My father was Bradley B. Biberg, he was in the Marines in 1951-52 and
was wounded in the fighting at bunker hill. I am writing a short
history of my family and I would like to get some information on what my
father was doing in Korea, and the nature of his service, and the
location of Bunker Hill.
Also when I was on active duty. I met an old Marine by the name of Msgt
John Marjanov up at MWTC in Bridgeport, CA. Can you give me any info on
Mr. Marjanov. One of the stories he told me was that he was knighted by
the Queen of England for saving a bunch of brits.
Any info will be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail me at

I had an uncle who was in the Korean War. His name was Melvin Edward
Jaster from Washington County, Texas. He was in the Marines. His entry
to the Marine Corps was January 24,1952, and he was discharged from the
Corps on January 13, 1954.
He received a purple heart for being wounded in Korea. He died recently.
He spoke very little about his experience in Korea. All that I have
heard is that his unit tried to gain control of a hill and that he was
the only one left of his unit when the battle was over. He had been
missing for several days after the battle. When he was found he was
naked and disoriented.
This story has been passed around our family since I was a little girl.
I am now working on our family tree. If any of this sounds familiar to
you, or if you could point me in the right direction to help me find out
more about my uncle it would be greatly appreciated.

Lowell Hildreth Lein is dad's full name. I don't know his unit
number. He never talked much about Korea. I do know the time frame
would have been 50-51. He was also awarded a Purple Heart. And I
believe he was a machine gunner or b.a.r. man.
