The reunion in Ft Walton Beach was great. The 8th lives on as the
8th Special Operations Squadron, writing history as we chat.
Anyone who would like to help complete the record of the 8th's
history contact me on E-mail

Had guys there that had flown with the 8th in 1942 and later during WWII
as well as Korea and Vietnam. The current 8th was celebrating the 80th
anniversary of the squadron with a banquet.

They invited the reunion folks to help them celebrate. We were treated
very well. Got the red carpet treatment, visited the squadron, had a
briefing by the Commander. Lt Col Bernie Moore on recent history and
current ops.

Its still a unit that can take a lot of pride in doing the hard stuff
well.

Hi:
I am wondering what happened to the 8th Bomb Squadron, 5th Air
Force that was stationed in Kunson K-8 during the war. I was trained
as a crew chief/engineer in the first class of combat crews for the
B-26 Light Night Intruders.

The war ended the day we left the states for Korea. In March 54, we
delivered some of our B-26's to the French in Vietnam, but the squadron
was still intact in June 54. Is there any way to look up the names of
flight crews?

Thanks, Hal

I was amazed when,as I was scanning the internet I stumbled onto the
Korean Project and saw where my outfit the 8th Bomb Sqdn. 3rd Bomb Gp
had just had there reunion.

I regret I was not aware of it,I certianly would have been there. I
was with the 8th Bomb Sqdn. from Jan 1950 to Jan 1952.

The base of operations during that period was Johnson AFB,Japan,
Iwakuni Japan,Teagu Korea, and finally Kunson Korea.

I was in Air Force Intelligence, interrogation of B-26 Bomber Crews.

Stationed in Kunsan, Korea from June 52-53. Looking for other members of
3rd Bomb Wing at that time, that consisted of 8th, 13th and 90th bomb
squadrons. I would like reunion dates of these groups.

I still am close friends with 2 guys I went thru training and
intelligence school with in Denver. One lives here in the San Diego area
and the other in Alabama. I have always wanted to go back to Korea, and
this seems to be the motivation for me to do so. I think I will wait
for the reunion in the fall to see if anyone I know is there, also if
any of you have already made the trip back. I have some great pictures
to share.

Thanks again for the response. By the way,I changed my last name 30
years ago. Got tired of being last all the time. My name is Richard A.
Dana.....but anyone who knew me would know me as Richard A. Zivalic

It shows 22 combat missions, missing on the 22nd.

I was only 2 1/2 years old when we lost him. I really would like to
