6401st Field Maintenance Sqdn
My name is Michael Burzesi and was with the 6401st Field Maintenance
Squadron 75th Maintenance Group, Air Force, stationed in Kimpo Air Force
Base, Seoul, Korea in 1953-1954. Squadron nickname was "Home of the
Retrievers".
I'm new to the Internet and probably can't host a web site yet but I'm
hoping to find other members of the Squadron. Here are some members of
the squadron.
O'Brien, James
Trimble, Garland E.
Williams, Claude
Killian, Ronald
Eggleston, Jack B.
Gorski, Ronald
Smith, Raymond E.
Casey, Vincent E. (CO)
Meyerowitz, Robert
Johnson, Fredrick
Let me know what I can do to help gather info on my squadron and get in
touch with other members.
Sincerely,

Subject: The Retrievers
My father was an Air Force "Retriever" in the Korean War. He was with
the sheet metal shop and part of his job was to go to crash sites and
either patch and fly or strip and destroy downed American aircraft. He
was in Korea in '52-'53. He wore a round 4"-5" diameter patch on his
jacket that had a black lab in the center with a crippled B Bomber where
the duck/pheasant should have been. I don't know a lot about my father's
military career because he didn't talk much about the War, but from the
bits and pieces I put together over the years, he and a small group of
other Retrievers were trapped on an island for a hell of a long time
without food. Every time we tried to rescue them, the unfriendlies would
force them away. It finally took the Missouri to get them off the
island.
I would like to know more about the Retrievers and what my father did. I
would also like to know what those medals were that I saw when I was a
kid. (We lost everything in a flood in '67 - just about the time I was
getting old enough to pay attention to details - so I don't have them
any more.) Could you help? My father is Charles W. Mussatti.
