The 618th ACWS was operational in 1950 at Miho Air Base
in Japan. I believe that the 5th AF aircraft early warning
function in Korea was done by the 502nd Tactical Control Group.
I was a member of the 618th ACWS (Radar site) at Miho 1948-50. Went to Korea
soon after war began - assigned to Hq Sq 5AF at Taegu and Seoul, MOS 166,
Powerman.
Would like to hear from anyone who served in these units.
