From: Martin Poole Email address Sent: Thursday, November 20, 2003 7:49 AM My parent unit was Headquaters 5th Air Force Advance, (Director of Operation & Communications), My TACP unit was attached to Hq & Hq Co, 3d Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment. We unloaded from the boat in Inchon, Korea on 20 November 1950 my unit unloaded with the the 1st Battalion, 32d Infantry Regiment (Col Faith) in which we remained we were told on 27 November 1950 that we were out of position and we were to move back to the 31st the next day. This never happen, the next day early after midnight on 28 November the Chinese surrounded us and struck. I remained with Company A, lst Battalion, 32d Regiment until I walked into the Marine outpost on 2 December 1950 Hagaru-ri, Frozen but not dead. 50 years later I received a Presenditial Unit Commendation letter.
