From: Robert Mejia Sent: Monday, April 26, 1999 1:32 PM Subject: My Korean experience I was at K-8 in Kunsan, Korea from August 1952 until July 1953. I was = in the 3rd Supply Squadron furnishing bombs and ammo to all Air Force = units including the 513th VMF. We serviced B-26s and F-84s mainly and = gently dropped off bombs and ammo for the Marines. (They wouldn't let us = touch their aircraft). The "Bomb Dump" was several miles from the main base and we worked 12 = hour days seven days a week. The 5th Mule train squadron brought in our = resupply ongoing. We had a few explosions and entire revetments were = lost at different times. I chose to think that they were "accidents" = rather than sabotage. I had three older brothers in WWII (a Navy officer, Army Nco, and Army = Air force Nco.) We lost one S/sgt. in Germany in early 1945. I had two = younger brothers who later served in the Army. My Mother and Father = contributed six of their sons to the defense of their country and I was = indeed proud to do my part wherever I was assigned. I am a retired High School Principal of 39 years and I attribute what = success and effect that I have had on students to my military service = and opportunities received through the G.I.bill.=20 The Korean war effected me in another way as I had a brother-in-law in = the Marines at the Chosin reservoir. Although he survived it, both he = and my sister were never the same. He died an early death. =20
