I am trying to find the men that served with my father during the
Korean War. He was a bomber on an Air Force B29 plane nicknamed the
"Ape Shape" that also had the year 1936 on it. (I think it was based in
Tokyo or Okinawa?)

I don't have any more information than this. I realize that this is like
looking for a needle in the proverbial haystack, but maybe your
organization has some ideas of where I can get current information on
his crew. I'm trying to find these men for my dad's retirement party
since I know he would like to find them. Any ideas would REALLY
be great!

Thanks for all your help!

I am looking for information on my father Captain Robert James Bird,
AO793217. He was shot down over Korean waters on
November 19, 1952 - MIA.

My mother seems to remember that there was a survivor of the mission.
As his only surviving daughter I would like to find out if anyone
knows of him or what occured that evening.

I like many others am trying to patch together the quilt of his life.
His friends called him "Bob" or "Biff" and he was a graduate of
Colgate College.

I appreciate all your efforts and needless to say am overwhelmed at what
 I've read at the site.

Looking for help on trying to find out information for B-29 crew
members of the 345th bomb Squadron at the Yakota A.F.B. in Japan 1952

In particular, my father is interested in trying to locate the
following:

Maj. William Nichols A/C
Lt. Raymond Dorazio Radar
Sgt. Richard Baker CFC
Sgt. Fred Ambrose RG
Sgt. William Layton RO
Sgt. John Duncan FE

My dad is Bob Wilkenloh. He is also looking for info on obtaining
authentic gunners wings era 1952. It seems his have gotten lost in the
shuffle of life. Can you please give me a clue about where I might
look on the internet or elsewhere?

Lastly, he is looking for Info on the Air Force Gunners Association
Reunion. I will be checking your reunion page next. But if it's not
there, any info you can send would be appreciated.

I stumbled across your page just now, I'm interested in Your interest in
the Group.

I was on one of the crews in the 345th that took the outfit to Yokota in
1950. Bill Beck mentioned we got there in 8 days. That's right! We got
there in the middle of the morning from Guam, unloaded all the stuff
in the bombays and started loading bombs in the afternoon for a mission
the next morning. The flight crews loaded their own bombs for a couple
of weeks untill the armourer crews got there.

Bill Manderville, gunner, Lt. Hunter's crew, 345th BS, A/C #05357, "Shady
Lady".

Looking forward to the reunion in Spokane.
