I WAS SENT TDY TO OKINAWA IN 1950 WITH A GROUP OF BUDDIES FROM CASTLE
FLD., CALIF. WE WERE IN ARMAMENT. WE WERE ATTACHED TO THE 22ND. BOMB
WING AT KADENA AF BASE. THE 22ND. WAS TDY FROM BARKSDALE AF BASE, LA.
THE 22ND BM. WG. WAS B-29'S.

THREE SQUADRONS WERE INVOLVED. THE 33RD.,THE 19TH., AND THE 2ND. I WAS
WITH THE 2ND. BM. SQ. WE LOADED BOMBS EVERY DAY AND THE GROUP FLEW MANY
MISSIONS INTO KOREA.

I STILL HAVE THE SPECIAL TDY ORDERS. THE DATES WERE 25 JULY 50 TO
24 OCTOBER 50. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU. I CAN GIVE MORE
INFORMATION.

I HAVE WANTED TO SEE SOMETHING ABOUT THE KOREAN WAR ERA. THE
INFORMATION I HAVE FOUND SO FAR ON THE INTERNET HAS BROUGHT BACK MANY
MEMORIES. THROUGH ALL THIS, MAYBE MANY PERSONS CAN BE HEARD AND MANY
BUDDIES CAN BE FOUND. CPL. JOHN CHRISTY 2ND. BM. SQ., 22ND BOMB WING
KADENA AF BASE, OKINAWA JULY 1950

The 22dn consisted of three squadrons from March Field, California ( not
Barksdale as previously reported). I was in the 33rd bomb sq. The 2nd
and 19th were the other two squadrons of B29s in the wing. We were TDY
to Kadena and were there only a few months as we lived in tents and I
guess they wanted to get us our of the area before the typhoon season
got into high gear.
