He served on the Point Cruz from August 1953-November 1953 and then was landbased at K-6 near Inchon until July 1954. He is trying to find anyone who served with him at this time. He is also trying to find detailed information about the Point Cruz CVE-119. The Point Cruz was a World War II vessel which was stationed in the Yellow Sea during the time Indian troops served as security for the exchange of prisoners at the end of the war. Sigmund Rhee refused to allow Indian troops to land on South Korean soil, so the Point Cruz served as a base for helicopters carrying the Indians to the DMZ. If anyone served with Gerald, he would like to hear from them. His address is 1404 Mayfair, Champaign, IL 61821. By the way, his brother, Guy Edward Dickey, served in the Air Force in Korea at K-8. He was a pilot of an F-84.

I believe it was because India had not supplied any troops to take part in the war itself, South Koreas' president would not permit them to set foot on S-K soil. They were brought into Inchon harbor aboard British troop ships, ferried over to the Point Cruz and flown via helicopters into the DMZ.
