Date: Mon, 06 Jan 1997 16:33:49 -0500 Dear Hal: I can not thank you enough for the service you are providing veterans with your web page. As I get time I will learn more about the services and also how we can help you.
My brother and I including 3 other friends from our little home town in PA joined the Army after not finding jobs upon graduation. We all took basic at Ft. Dix, NJ in late 1949 and after a short leave we went on to Ft. Lewis, WA.
All 5 of us were assigned to the 82nd AAA Bn. My brother and I went to Dog Battery. I will mail or fax the full story to you, but to answer your recent question the above should do the trick.
I was in a Japanese Hosipital Oct-Nov 50 and when I returned back to Korea and rejoined the unit Richard was missing. We spent some time together near the Naktong awaiting new M19's And M16's after losing ours when we got trapped on the 1st of Sept 1950. Shortly after that richard ended up in the same Japanese Hospitial and I just missed him. The last letter home to the family was dated Oct. 13, 1950. We were in the same platoon, different squads and maybe a hill or so away untill that sad day Dec. 1, 1950. We supported all the 2ID inf. regts in Korea. I will stay in touch and as I learn how to use Internet I will be able to serve you and your task a little better.
Thanks again to my newest hero,
Vince Krepps
