As secretary of our Battalion Association (72nd Tank Bn), I was
glad to find the locator page for the 72nd. I took the liberty of
publishing in our Newsletter the information that is posted there
about people looking for information about fathers, etc. I hope
there is someone in our Association who is able to respond to them
and has some information to provide.

Mr Les Peate CD
Executive Secretary

Dear Les,

I am writing in regards to the Memorial planned for the Battle of
Kapyong in the Pacific Rim National Park 24 April 1998.

Company A, 72d Heavy Tank Battalion U.S. Army also participated in the
Battle of Kapyong with Second Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian
Light Infantry and Third Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment and was
included in the Presidential Citation (USDUE) awarded for that action.

That Battalion- now known as the 72d Armor Regiment still serves in the
Korean Theatre of Operations - has an active alumni organization, lead
by Ted Pickett. His particulars are:

Colonel T.R. Pickett, Honorary Colonel,
72d Armor Regiment, Box 24775, Tempe AZ 85285-4775

In view of the above, it is my recommendation that a formal invitation
be extended through respective governments to have representative(s)of
the 72d Armor Regiment attend the Memorial actitives. An official
invitation through channels could well provide some financial assistance
to their representative(s) travel expenses..

It is therefore requested that you bring this matter to the attention of
those organizing this Memorial. It is appreciated that this aspect may
have already been considered, but in case it hasn't I am bringing it
forward.

Sincerely,

Bud MacLeod

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Quinn McCarthy and I served in the 2nd Infantry Division,
2 Battalion, 72 Armor, from July of 1987 to April of 1988.

During my time in Korea I gathered as much information as I could since
it had always been my intention to write a historical/fictional account
of the war.

Unfortunetly, during a recent move, alot of my gathered research was
lost. This included alot of interviews with Korean War Veterans. I am
also seeking anyone who would like to share information or recollections
of the war or time served in Korea at any time.

Specifically, I am looking for information about 8th Army during the
time frame of November 23 through November 30, 1950. I am highly
interested in the 2nd Infantry Division as that was the unit which I
served in during my time in Korea.

Thank you for any assistance you or others may be able to give me.
