Researhing any links to the 7th 707 Ordnance in 1951 Korea. My father,
Idus Robert Hughes, Sr. was a black soilder who helped set up the
Direct Exchange Set in the maintenance ord which supplied parts for all
army vechicles.
He was under General Smith, and Colonel Deluth. He came from Palatka,
Fla to basic training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina on to Camp Drake
headquarters in Japan under the 8013 Unit, 8080 Ord, later transferred
to Korea 7th, 707 Ord. He left later under Operation Santa Claus.
I am working on a genealogy project for our family and would love to
have some history to include for future generations.
thanks

The 7th Ordnance Medium Maintenance Company was deployed from
Fort Carson Colorado to Yokohama for staging for the Inchon landing.
The unit landed on the 25th or 26th of September 1950 from the
troopship MSTS General C.G.Morton.The 7th Ordnance was the back-up for
the 707th Ordnance of the 7th Infantry Div. Note:I can give a detailed
report of all the locations the unit went to up to May 1951.

Sometime midway in our tour, those of us who were Ord trained were
reassigned to the 707th Ord. for the remainder of our time in Korea.
I was in "A" Co at Camp Casey in the small arms repair unit. I believe
we left Korea around Apr. '57 aboard the USS Breckinridge. Anyone
remember all this???? Like to hear from any of you who do!!!!! It was
during my time with the 707th that "A" Co moved to the area across the
road from "B" Co and H&H.
