I am looking for information on my Platoon Sgt who was KIA in Korea
sometime between Jan 1951 and April 1951.

I was platoon Leader of 3rd Platoon Co "C" 6th Tank Bn. We were
along the Puckhan river when an Infantryman stepped on a land mine
and the shrapnal killed my Platoon Sgt.

His name was either Crouch or Creech

All I remember is that his last name was CROUCH.

Creech is the one. The unit designation is wrong.

The 6th Tank Bn was on paper attached to the 1st Cav, but fought with
the 24th Infantry Div. The 70th Tank Bn was attached to the 24th
Inf Div, but fought with the 1st Cav Div.

They later got the paper work straightened out. James B. Creech
was the Platoon Sgt for the 3rd Platoon, Company "C", 6th Tank Bn.

He was with the Bn in 1950 when it was with the 2nd Armored Div at
Fort Hood, Texas. When Korea broke out the Bn was alerted and shipped
to, Korea and ended up with the 24th Infantry Division. The Bn also
supported the 1st ROK Infantry Division. Army official records show
the dates the Bn was attached to the 24th as 10 November 1951 to 5
June 1958.

My father is former Sargent Wayne Clifford Cunningham, with
H&S Co. 6th medium tank battalion, attached to the 24th infantry
division.

He was captured on 4/29/51 and spent 29 months at Chongsong (camp #3).
He is alive and well and wondering if there are any friends out there?

He would love to hear from you.

Hal, In checking the units that were attached to the 24th Infantry
Division, you show the 8th Army Ranger Company. This is incorrect. They
were attached to 8th Army Headquarters. The 8th Ranger Company Airborne
was attached to the 24th Infantry Division.

I know because I was the Tank Platoon Leader with Co. "C", 6th Tank Bn.
that rescued them from hill 625 in April 1951. I'm also trying to get
contact with Col. Ranger Robert W. Black, he was in the unit at
that time. Do you have his e-mail address?
