Thanks very much,Ted, for the suggestion. I was given a good listing of
telephone numbers from another person that had a CD ROM of them. If that
isn't successful, the KWP is another route. The 5th RCT Association has
been searching for all participants of that regiment, not just the 53rd
counterfire platoon, in the Korean War.

Search has gone faily well, Ted. Have located and contacted four members
of our platoon including our platoon leader. The first week in May the
5th RCT is going to have their annual reunion in Louisville, KY on
May 8,9,10, & 11.
Four of us from the 53rd counterfire platoon, again including our
Platoon leader,will be there.
This is the first time anyone of us from the 53rd will attend. Should
have a great time.
Thanks for your help, Phil.

THANKS FOR DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB HELPING NOT ONLY THE MEN WHO SERVED
IN THE KOREAN WAR BUT ESPECIALY THE FAMILIES WHO ARE LEFT WITH
UNANSWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR MISSING LOVED ONES! KEEP UP THE
GOOD WORK.
I WAS CAPTURED APRIL 23,1951 BY THE NORTH KOREANS AND THE CHINESE
AND I WAS RELEASED AUGUST 15,1953 .IT WAS A VERY BLESSED DAY FOR ME
NOT ONLY BEING RELEASED BUT IT WAS ON THE SAME DATE OUR BLESSED
MOTHER ASSENDED INTO HEAVEN!!!
EX-POW FROM CAMP # 1 NORTH KOREA FROM 4/23/1951 TO 8/15/53
Note: I was also wondering if you could help me with trying to locate
my BIBLE I left in Inchon, Korea. I know it has been many, many years
ago, but it has bothered for so many years that I found it in Korea and
ironically it was left there. I had a diary written in there of alot of
experiences that took place on our march to our prison camp and the
results that took place in the camp. It was in POW camp #1 that i did a
lot of writing in it. The Chinese thought they took all my important
belongings but unknown to them they left me with the most important
belonging of all !!! As we were leaving Inchon for our trip home is
when I noticed it was missing. I'm sure if it is God's Will someone
will send it to me if they still have it.

My name is Rick McCall. I'm a retired Sergeant Major. The reason I'm
sending this is I'm looking for more information on my dad,
Russell L. McCall.
He died on active duty as a Sergeant Major (combat engineers) in 1972.
He shipped out to Korea from Hawaii in June 1950 as a combat engineer,
Sgt 1/C. My mom, brother and I went back to Florida. Dad didn't talk
about his time in Korea at all.
After he died Mom said he had seen a lot of action that had affected him
pretty severely. Before he died Dad had been in World War II, Korea,
and Vietnam. I understand that he received a purple heart from a North
Korean 12.7-mm (.50 cal) wound in his leg and also a Silver Star.
I have not been able to find any documentation on much of anything.
Prior to his death all of his personal files were destroyed in a fire.
If you didn't know my dad, I would appreciate any historical data you
may have about the 5th RCT. I know absolutely nothing about it-how it
was organized or anything. I assume my Dad was in a combat engineer
element.

I am looking for information on my uncle. He was listed MIA then he
was reported KIA. His name was Billy James Odom, Co. G 2nd Btn 5RCT.
I know that he was at one of the hills on the front lines, my
Grandmother really never knew all of the details, he went missing Jan.
27-52, and his remains was shipped home in Aug. of 52. He was from
Post, Tx. 22 yrs. old, If anyone remembers Uncle Bill Please tell me
some stories about him, and if possible how he died.
I never knew him, but my Grandmother kept his memory alive so I felt as
tho I always knew him and she also shared her love and concern for
many other soldiers. Thank you for any help.

He did attend the Reunion in St; Louis Mo. 2 yrs ago. He met up with

him.
Dad had a heart attack 2 yrs ago and now is recovering from cancer. He
has never spoken much about his time in the service and doesn't say what
he did. I understand that sometimes you have to deal with things
yourself (I am a 12 year Police veteren and know that some things are
best left buried).
Keep up the good work and God bless you all.

My mother died in 1956 and I was raised by her family. None of them
knew anything about my fathers family. I located his family some years
ago, but they weren't able to tell me much about his military service.
I requested information from the records department in Mo., but due to a
fire there wasn't much, just a death certificate.
On his grave marker it says he was in the 5th Inf. I know he was a
medic.
How can I go about finding someone that served with him that could tell
me something about him?

death and have always felt that there was more that I would have like to

I doubt that at this time, so many years having past, there would be any
such information available. I was told some years ago that the Army
did not have any information
You might like to know that Alton was buried in the local cemetary in
