Casualty information

From: Edward A. Bicknell
Subject: 424th Field Artillery Battalion

I am looking for a list of all casualities in the 424th Field Artillery
Battalion. Can you help locate this information?

Looking for names and addresses of anyone who served with the 424th FA
Bn or 213th FA Bn between August 1950 and December 1954.

Also looking for first names of Aman and Ford who were captured while on
op duty in Kumhwa Valley in July 1953 at the same time 1st Lt Frank
Wilkinson was KIA.

Thank you.

We forwarded the pertinent information to Ed to be included in his fine
Newsletter, The Howitzer. Despite Ed's modesty,
the newsletter is bringing unit members together and represents a fine
tribute to the unit.

The fine book on the unit has been featured on the KWP Bookseller site.

Order from Ed Bicknell.

This book was self-published for the benefit of the interested members
of the 424th FA Bn. I had to have a second printing because a number of
other folks became interested. Several schools from Maine to Colorado
bought copies for their history department although I pointed out that
I'm not an historian.

If any Korean vets are interested in acquiring a copy they should mail
their check:

$35.00 (the cover price is $45)
$ 3.00 (Priority Mail postage)
$38.00

Comments ...

This is a very nice site...I'm particularly interested as my dad served
in Korea in the 424th Field Artillery. I'm hoping you'll keep the
search aspects of the site as I hope one day to put in a query to talk
with anyone out there who may have served in the Army with my
dad. Thanks and keep up the good work!!

As for my Dad...his name was Vincent Lawrence DeRoche,
aka "Rocky", of Yarmouth, Maine.

My mom said he served from approximately October 1950 to
November 1952. [He didn't die in action, though, he passed away
from cancer in '68].

Thomas Paul Lauerman

Hi,
I am looking for information on the unit my father, Thomas Paul
LAUERMAN, served in while in Korea. My mother says she has a box of
old photos taken in Korea, but none of them have Dad in them.

I would like to contact anyone who actually served with or knew my
dad at that time. His discharge papers list his most significant
duty assignment as: Btry "B" 424th FA Bn APO 301. He served from
Sept. 1950 to May 1952. THANKS for any help you can give.

Please E-Mail me at:

Thanks, Karen

I served in the 424th field artillery connected with 9th corps and
discharged in August 1952. I am looking for any information or
contacts of others who served with this field artillery. I was in
Hq battery.

It was great finding you accidentally and I've enjoyed browsing -
you've done a great job!
