Ted,
Thank you for your response to my inquiry. The only other information
I was able to come up with was that my father and his friend were in the
3rd AAA Automatic Weapons Self Propelled Unit.
Another friend in the unit, at the same time, was Wallace Henniger.
If you are able to direct me any further I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Wendy Hawkesworth

I am a survivor of the Hungnam evacuation and would like to see more
about it.
I was with the 3d AAA AW SP, Battery C& D while in Korea. We arrived in
Korea in November with the Third division and ran convoys up to the
Chosin and were finally evacuated from Hungnam. Our battery was one of
the last off of the peninsula on the evening of Dec 24th .
I have an old Army buddy who I have kept in contact with who has a whole
box of photo's from training through Korea. He is not on the net that I
know of but would you like his name and address?
I am looking for the whereabouts of a black Artillery Sgt., named
Peter Crawford who I went through PIO school with. I believe he was
with the 999 105 howitzer Sp (Brigade?) 3d. Div.
I saw him once in North Korea and then never again.
Will contact you again,
David Naar

My father Cecil R Valenzuela was First Sergeant and later
Battery Commander of the Battery D AAA 3rd Inf Div. I have
photos of his time there and need to identtfy the people and place.
His soldiers called him "Captn Val".
Although he held a field commission he was very close with the solders
in his unit.

I was in "A" Battery, 3rd AAA from February 1952 until March of 1953.
I was in the motor pool all during that time. There were some nasty
moments during that time, but I was one of the fortunate ones who
returned.
Our favorite expression was, "Korea is nothing but miles and miles
of nothing but miles and miles. I would be very interested to hear
from anyone who was in that group during that time. I have quite a
few pictures with names from that period. Good thing because the
memory sure ain't what it used to be!

I was originally Drafted from the Chicago land area. I served in
the "A" Battery 3rd AAA 3rd Infantry Division in Korea from
February 1952 until April 1953. I would be very interested to
hear from anyone who was in the same outfit during that time.
If you were there at that time, please contact me at:

I have a lot of pictures of most of the guys, with names so
hopefully we can make the association. Thank you.
