How can I locate veterans who served with Col. Kim, Young Oak(Ret. US
Army) during the Korean war? He was the commander of the 1st battalion,
31st infantry regiment, 7th division during 3/1951-8/52, as a major.
I want to interview his comrades-in-arms, superior officers, etc., over

Dear Mr Barker,
I am a Vietnam veteran of the 31st Infantry but am an active member of
the regimental association in which roughly 2/3 are Korean War vets.
We have two upcoming events that may be of interest. The first is
reactivation of the 31st Infantry at Ft Drum (Watertown, NY) on 12 April
as part of the 10th Mountain Division. The second is our annual reunion
scheduled for 28 June through 1 July at the Rosslyn Westpark Hotel in
Arlington, VA, just across the potomac from Washington, DC. We publish
a newsletter three times a year in which we have a "From the Past"
column spanning the regiment's history all the way back to 1916.
Another column is "Looking Back", a personal history submitted by
members of the association.
We have roughly 500 active members including veterans of the Siberian
campaign of 1919-1920, Shanghai campaign of 1932, Bataan campaign
of 1941-42, Korean War, and Vietnam War. The last active unit of the
regiment was inactivated at Ft Sill, OK in July 1995, but is soon to be
reactivated at Ft Drum, as indicated above. For further info, contact

Hi, I'm a 20 Navy veteran. I served my last 4 years in the ROK. My
father George F. Stecher fought in the war. He arrived on X-mas eve,
1951 at Heartbreak Ridge.
He was with the EUSA, 7ID, 31st Regiment, Company "L".
I did not see any reunion information regarding his Company on your
reunion page.
Do you know of any information regarding his Company for re-unions,
names, phone numbers, etc.
Any information would be helpful.
Thank You,
L Co.

I am trying to locate anyone who may have known my uncle, Kenneth(Bobby)
Drew, declared MIA on 12/3/1950. He served in Company I, 7th Infantry
Div., 31st Infantry Regiment and was at Chosin Resevoir. He was PFC.
Also, I have been unable to access any information online concerning the
DNA testing. Two of my uncles have provided samples for the testing. I
would like to just find out the status of such testing if possible.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sharon Nickerson

Were the remains left in Korea or recovered and buried someplace else?

Comments:
My husband James Busher served in the 7th Infantry Division, 31st
Infantry Regiment, F (Fox) Company from 1949 to June 1951. He would
like to hear from anyone he served with during that time. He survived
such things as the Inchon landing and the Chosin Reservoir and many
other forms of hell that was thrown at him and his brother soldiers.
He is a life member of the KWVA, Past President and Life Member of the
Northeast New York Chapter of KWVA, Life Member of: 7th Division, 31st
Infantry Regiment. He will soon join the "Chosin Few."
Jim enjoys going to reunions of these organizations and meeting with
other Korea War veterans (notice I chose the word War and not Conflict!)

I've just about given up hope of finding someone who knew him. Next week
will be 48 years since he died--he was only 19--and I'm sure the other
men in his battalion have forgotten , or they have gone too but
thanks for trying.

A lot of people think that the 17th Inf Reg was the only US unit to get
to the Yalu. Not so. After the evacuation of Hungnam, he was transferred
to HG & HG Company, (IR Platoon), 31st Inf Reg and subsequently
seriously wounded on 2 June 1951 at the Hwachon Resevoir.
I am a retired US air Force CMSgt.

I am looking for information on how to get more information on the
following person:
James E. "Doc" Blohm. He was a medic during the Korean Conflict.
One of the Chosin Few. Sadly, he just passed on a few days ago. I made
a promise to learn as much as I can about him through his books, his
stories and the like.
I want to get as much information on this wonderful man so I can publish
them on a website of my own.
Thanx.
