From: Alfred H. Elliott, III alelliott@juno.com

Dear Sir:

I am assisting a former member of the U.S. Army, Mr. Tom Stoney,
to gather information on his brother, CPL Oliver H. Stoney, Jr.
CPT Stoney served with C Co, 1st Bn, 24th Regiment, 25th Infantry
Division in Korea. He was captured on 26 or 27 November 1950.

We believe he was held in a prisoner of war camp in northern Korea.
During repatriation, CPT Stoney's family was informed that he had
died in captivity. At the time of notification, Mr. Tom Stoney was
himself assigned to the Korean Theater. We would greatly appreciate
any information you might have or information you might be able to
provide to help in our search.

Thank you for your assistance.

All black unit...24th Infantry, I think, not sure. Will visit site
again with more information.

Would love to talk with anyone that knew him. I have so many
questions. Never knew my father and both grandparents had
died by the time I was 2 months old.
I was at the Korean War Memorial opening and was unable to
find anyone; called the newspapers, left messages at hotels,
etc. Nothing. SOMEBODY has to be around that knew him!

I am looking for veterans of the 24th Infantry Regiment from 1950 to
October of 1951, along with the 159th FAB, to interview them for a book
that I am researching on the evaluation, service, and experiences of the
unit.

Please contact me at 715-836-5501 or duckswsm@uwec.edu. I want to
create an oral history of this unit's service. I already have gathered
and transcribed 20 interviews, and would like to find at least another
15.

I admire the unit, have researched the controversies around it, and hope
that the men of the unit will help me to get this information on the
record before it is too late.
