I am interested in communicating with anyone who might have known my
father, who at the time of his death in Ft.Bragg, NC in 1970, was
known as Sgt 1st Class Leo C. Vigil.

In August of 1950, my father was stationed in Ft.Lewis, Washington
with Co C, 23rd Inf Regt and landed at Pusan, Korea in August 1950.

He was injured in combat in Sept of 1950, sent to hospital in Tokyo
then released and joined A Btry, 15th FA Bn near Yong-Dong-Po and
moved to the lines near Wonson. While in support of ROK division plus
1st Bn of 38th Inf. Regt. the enemy took my father as a prisoner of
war, which he survived.

I would like to know if anyone knew him. He also served in Viet Nam.

Was attempting to find latest info On old army buddy.MIA,Korea

The name is Norman Levesque of Taunton, MA. He was a boyhood friend and
we shared the same birthday only he was a yr. older. All I realy
remember is that he was army and was first MIA from this city. His folks
have since passed away and he has no other family members in this area.

Am very curios if he was ever found, Should have mentioned He and his
folks moved before he entered the service & I enlisted the year after
he was declared MIA.

Any info would be appreciated. Am also trying to locate another old
friend who went through basic with me. He is a Mohawk (Tuscorora)
indian who left the reservation to enlist. I'm waiting for a response
from The Mohawk indian nation in upper N.Y., When I last saw him
after basic he was Infantry & we were sent to different parts from Ft.
Dix In 1953.

first group of soldiers over and the first group back (According to my
mother). They actually married they day we joined the Korean Conflict.

He passed away in August of 1976, but I have always been curious about
his service and if anyone remembers serving with him.

I was only 15 when he passed away and he lived in Florida so we didn't
have alot of moments to discuss his service. You don't think of the
importance of that time served when you are young- unfortunately!

I would appreciate any information.

More:
Dad is listed as:
Second Lt. Donald A. O'Brien, 02014560, Artillery, Army of
the United States, 15th Field Artillery Battalion (Self Propelled), 2d
Infantry Division , from 23 August 1950 to 24 September 1950. Entered
the military service from Illinios.

There are articles on Second Division leaving from Ft. Lewis Washington
which is where I said they had gone on their honeymoon. (Tacoma, WA)
In one article from the San Antonia Evening News 5/11/51, Dad gives
details on his war experience- including the battle for Hill 201
alongside Naktong River.
