Comments: My name is Kasey Preece, I am a Cpl. with the Weber County Sheriffs Office. I have recently started looking into my grandfathers military service. He served on the Phillips during the Korean War, thats as much as I can find. His name was Edward Lloyd Preece he served from 1951-1954, he more than likely went by Lloyd. I have tried searching all these websites but cant find any info on him. I have a picture of the ship he served on thats it, he didn't like to talk to much about his service. He passed away in 2002

Comments: I served as chief radioman on the philip from
1954 - 1957. I was only member of crew from
New York and my buddy Bill Herr a yeoman was
only member from New Jersey. We blockcaded
Inchon for awhile and sailed in the Japanese seas
most of the time.
It was a good ship, an excellent destroyer and
earned the big E on its stack.

Comments: My uncle Sammy Jackson was on the USS DDE-498 Philip around the late 50's . When they came back into Hawaii he and some buddies went swimming at sandy beach near the blow hole and was swept in the current and never found. I was wondering if anyone one remembered him ? Love to hear from you.
