Comments: I have been working on a book about the history and insignia of the 8240th AU. Work on the book is coming along but is a long way from being done.

I decided to build a 8240th AU website as a predecessor to the book. Information will be added on a periodic basis, and it is my hope that by getting it out into the collecting community, forums and former 8240th veterans, I will be able to gain more information and find items to add in the final publication.

This link should take you straight to the 8240th section of the website:

http://www.botrmilitaria.com/#!the-8240th-au/c1mj8

Please contact me if you have any 8240th related items that you would like to share for inclusion on the website and book. All information shared will be noted, unless told otherwise.

Thanks You,

Matt

Comments: Ladies/Gentlemen: I am seeking information on my father, Cpl Robert Julian Rogers from Glen Morgan, Raleigh County, West Virginia, concerning his service with the 8240th AU from his enlistment on 5 Feb 1952 to his honorable separation on 4 Jan 1954. My name is Gary K. Rogers, PE, Phd., and I am Dad's oldest son. I am a full professor at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and am seeking any and all information regarding his duty and service in Korea. I have a number of pictures that I would like to scan and submit as well as a handful of personal stories that he told me years ago. Dad passed away on August, 1981 from a massive heart attack, two months and two days shy of his 50th birthday. He was my best friend growing up and I miss him to this day. He never told us that he was in any type of special unit, and played down his contributions. It was only years after his death did I find his discharge papers, a medical attention letter from the 8240th AU, his M1 Garand issue letter with serial number, and a small box decorations along with a handful of old Korean coins. Thank you all! Most sincerely, Gary K. Rogers
