Comments: The correct unit designation for the 8201st Army Unit, (UNCACK) is
UNITED NATIONS CIVIL ASSISTANCE COMAND, KOREA
At least that was was it was when I was assigned there from Sept 1951 thru March of 1953, at Suwon.
The Suwon Det was responsible for all of Kyongido. with the exception of Soul City which had its own Detachment.
If the Unit designation was changed later I am not aware of that nor if any changes were made to its operational charter.

Comments: To Roger E.Bradley

I must have just missed you since I arrived in Korea in early July.54 I do not remember the company clerks name, but I do remember he was the one who picked us up at Youngduengpo. We had a Major as a Co.don't remember his name and a very nice First Sgt.I was assigned to the security section. Most of the noncoms were soon rotating home and I made Cpl. rather quickly.I can remember faces but not many names. One I do remember is James V Keenan who told me he came from Puson with the move.I think it may be possible you know him.He was from Philly.if my memory hast't failed me.
If you receive this I would appreciate a responce.

Thank you.

Comments: Joe served in the 8201st KCAC and loved his time in Korea. He is dying now and I am desperately trying to get him is Korean War Medal. Does anyone know Pvt. Joe Kamis? I believe he worked in Pusan but not sure. Sounds from his stories that the KCAC was a great group of people. He discharged in June of 1955.

Comments: Wondering if anyone knew my father. He was stationed at HQ 8201st UNCACK, Korea (PVT or CPL)
from between 1952-1953. I believe he was a clerk. He was always listening to his radio, as was relayed to me through his old letters. He was from Lafayette, Indiana

Any info or stories would be appreciated.

He was 39 when he passed away here in the US in 1971. This is from his son, and I do have some photos to share with any of his friends/soldiers.

Comments: I would be interested in hearing from anyone who worked in UNCACK during 1950-1953 who knew Efrain Ribeiro. He was Chief of the Sanitation Section during that time period. He has many snapshots in a Korean scrapbook, but many have no notes attached. I'm interested in getting a feel of what life was like serving in UNCACK during that time. I'd be happy to share the snapshots, as well. (Efrain went on to work for the Pan American Health Organization for his entire career. He died shortly aftering retiring from PAHO in 1979. His widow, Mercedes Ribeiro, whom he married while on leave from UNCACK, is well and lives near Baltimore, Maryland.)

Keywords: Efrain Ribeiro, a Peruvian engineer with advanced degrees in civil engineering and public health from Michigan State and the University of Michigan, served in UNCACK from 1950-53, where he was head of UNCACK's Sanitation Section, Pusan. Some of his snapshots mention: Mark Sherboker, Capt. Jacobs, Dr. Cassel, Dr. Bommel, Dr. Ravirosa, Mr. Harris, Finley, Rudy, Ken.
