I would like to know if there are any veterans who served with an old friend of mine.
Robert Young, AKA Red Top, was drafted in 1954 and served 16 months and 4 days at Camp Casey in Uijeongbu, South Korea. Did he receive any commendations? Injuries? I'm doing this for a family project. Any little bit helps. Thanks in advance.

Comments: I am trying to find any information about my father and his service in Korea. He was in Japan when the war broke out and we have no information about his unit, company etc. because like many other veterans, his personal records were lost in transit and his military records were destroyed in the same storage facility fire as many others. We know he was assigned in a tank unit but not much else. I have some photo's of him and the tanks as well as a tracked snow vehicle, but the pictures of him in uniform do not clearly show his unit emblem/patch. We have an envelope post marked June 16, 1951, about five months before being discharged, with the following address:
Sgt. Acie E. Ray, 15378119
7.RCN.CO.
APO 7
c/o P.M.
Inter Island

Any assistance is appreciated.
Thank you,
Brian Ray

Comments: My dad, Joseph Cafaro, served in the Army from 1951-1953. He was stationed in Korea for 13 months and was part of the 7th Recon. Since he lost all his papers in a move (and the official records were lost in a fire in St. Louis), he never received his Combat Infantry Badge (CIB). This has always been a real sore spot for him. He has a copy of his discharge papers and various medals (good conduct, Korean service, United Nations service, National Defense service, etc.), but the Army Review Board has declined to send him the CIB.

I saw mention on this site that members of his unit were awarded the CIB - is there any way you can help me confirm this, so he can get his hard-fought medal?

Also, if you have any recollection of serving with him, etc., that would be great. He probably went as Joe or Joey from New Jersey. He's still alive and living in South Jersey.

Comments: I am helping my father in-law find a gentleman that he remembers as Kennedy. My father in-law found him along the side of the road and thaught he was deceased. He picked him up and put him on the trailer they had and later that day my father in-law was wounded and did not know what happened to him. When my father in-law was in the hospital in Japan a young gentleman came in to see him and to his delight he was surprised to see it was the youngman he picked up of the side of the road. They had both been wounded on February 13. 1951.

My father in-law has not seem him since and he has been trying to find him for years. If anyone knows of this once young man (which is how my father in-law stills sees him in his thaughts) would they please get in touch with me as my father in-law really needs to find out about him.
