Comments: I arrived in the 696 ordnance ammo company in dec 51, i arrived with a soldier named Sgt Tracy, I stayed in umjumbo until the point where we needed a forward storage area for the ammo for the units on the front lines. I assisted in building the forward unit ASP-17. That was completed sometime in mid 1952, at that time i was reasigned to the 2nd infantry division. Some of the names i remember serving with were A cpl. Orr, the company clerk, A Leonard Mallory from Bellview Illinois, A truck driver named Davis, Another trucker Named Brown And the doc/medic was a guy from Louisana named Grashaw, or Kershaw. He like to play rook. The Sgt of the Mess hall was Named Mitchel Hope this helps. Also, we had a second lt. Named Lampe. Roy C. Minson

Comments: I was stationed with the 696th Ord Co (Ammo) from 1964 to 1965, would like to here from someone with the unit during that time period. Would also like to know if anyone knows the whereabouts of Herbert A Dennis who was there at the same time. Spent a lot of cold nights on Guard Duty at that place but also had some good times too. If anyone was their during this time would love to here from you. I moved from korea to vietnam in six months and that was the horror story of all times. All those forgotten soldiers who served their country proudly forgotten and treated like they were nothing when they returned home. Once a vet always a vet, God Bless our Military. Thanks for listening and hope to here from someome soon.

A short while later I was told that the old 696 Ord Compound had been closed down for good. For those that remember, it sat at the bottom of To Bong San mountian. Never will forget the day my yobo and me ran into a North Korean infiltrator on that mountian. Last time up it for me.

Comments: If you served in these units from 61-62, please contact me. Also to those that were at ASP#63 at that time, feel free to contact me also. Want to know how ASP# 63 was affiliated with the Cav. as they did wear the Cav Patch, even though as I remember, they were still with 696 Ord Co. They were at Mun-san-i, as I had been up there a few times also.

Also, I remember as I was on my way back through Seoul from hauling artillery cans to 83rd Ordnance with my 3/4 ton, that I was confronted by mass humanity.

Also, Gen Park Chung Hee and his military when he overthrough the civilian Govt.

Comments: I was stationed in Korea from June 1976 to Dec 1977. The company had about 25 men in it. We worked with two ROK companies that provided security and conducted issue, storage and receipt. We maintained accountability and surveillance of the ammunition.

The year and a half was the best duty of my 8 year army career. Was there when two officers were killed on the DMZ and we went to DEFCON 2.
