Comments: Greetings!

I am looking for information regarding my biological dad who served in the K-9 Corps in the 58th Ordnance, 8th Army from 1955 to 1957, at Sihung. He returned to BuPyung, or Ascom City, near Seoul, in 158 and departed to the U.S. August 1959. It is possible his name is Larry Lee Fowler, born August 26, 1936, and possibly from Michigan. Any information appreciated.
thanks!
Cindy

Comments: Co E, 20th Infantry was attached to 58th Ord. We
were guarding a warhead site in the hills (or small
mountains) south of the village. I am in touch with
2 guys from my squad, and one from the dog handlers
platoon--all of us there in 1963. Capt Jack Sanford
was CO--had his own chopper. Just a little trivia--we
wore the blue scarfs, Ord guys the red (we calle them
red rags...)

Comments: The 630th was among the most decorated Ammo Ordinance "All Negro" outfits of war in Korea. Was station in Japan when war broke out. I joined them at Suwon beachhead in early 1951. That year established Ammo supply points in Seoul,Korea and (Jejonbu?)Racial desegregation removed the 630th from miltary history. (Became the 636th Ord) Captain Holmes, our "Negro" commander was loved and respected by everyone. He was promoted to Major and I believe sent to Aberdeen.

In particular, he remembers a Leo Dean from his unit at Inchon and a Richard or Robert Critchlow (not sure of the last name exactly) who was in Basic Training with him (and maybe at Aberdeen also?). Dad was in Basic at Camp Crowder, Missouri and then went to Aberdeen for his Ordinance training -- Basic in Feb-Mar 1952 and at Aberdeen April to July. Then on to Inchon until January 1954. The 58th was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation 10 June 1953 for service 1 Jul through 31 Dec 1952 for its service in connection with the following units (associated with the 83rd Ord Btn): HQ and HQ Det, 59th Ord Ammo Renovation Platoon, 65th Ord Ammo Co., 630th Ord Ammo Co., 696th Ord Ammo Co.
