Comments: I am researching my grandfather's service. I have a Letter of Commendation from a 2LT Jay G. Jalreak for his work on the pipeline at Inchon in 1952-53.

I would love to hear from anyone who may have known him.

Comments: I would like to make a correction to my 12/2/14 entry. I now have two albums on my Flickr page of scans of original photos of the 388th Engineer Pipeline Company: one for the 388th at Fort Belvoir, VA, before they shipped off to Korea; and the other for the 388th in (and on the way, or leaving) Korea. The Korea album is a work-in-progress and will be added to as I have time and access to my dad's original slides and prints (right now it only has color photos, but B&W's will eventually added). Both albums can be accessed here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/79475348@N03/sets
Comments and corrections are greatly welcome!

Comments: Hello,

I am attempting to assemble a Shadow Box for my grandfather, Robert Cramer, who deployed to Korea with the 388th. I am trying to track down what battalion or higher command the 388th fell under so I can track down the appropriate unit insignia patches. He can't remember what they were. Can anyone help me?

Comments: I'm am trying to do research to help my father file a medical claim with the VA. My Dad served with the 333 E. Pipeline at Marbo, Guam in the late 40's and early 50's. I would like to know about you folks...do you remember the chemicals you used to clear the vegetation? My Dad remembers using Sodium Arsenite and machetes to clear. He now has Parkinson's Disease and we feel there is a link to the herbicides. Have any of you or your buddies had health problems? The chemicals you worked with were three times as toxic as Agent Orange yet if you file a medical claim it will be denied...unless you also served in Viet Nam. I feel this is wrong. I'd like to gather stories from as many Veteran's as I can. I want to help my father as well as all the other Veteran's that are denied medical care. Thank-you for your time! Comments: We (388th) arrived in Pusan Korea on December 5,1951. Left Pusan (200 Miles North) and built a pipeline from the sea of Japan inland to a tank farm which we built along with pumping stations along the line. Had a lot of problems with Koreans tapping the pipeline and loading 55 gallon drums of fuel and selling them.

Later we moved to the Seoul - Inchon area where we built another pipeline. I rotated home in late December 1953. I remember the 8th Army brass was very pleased with the work we did.

I would like to hear from any of my buddies that were with me in that time frame (Dec.1951 to Dec. 1952. Thanks.

Comments: My father, John Irwin Huggins of Argyle NY, is searching for members of his unit, the 382d Engineers Pipeline Co. They were associated with Marine Air Group 12. They built a pipeline from Kangnung, on the east coast, to a Marine airbase at either Wonju or Houengeong (my uncertainty). One of his friends in the unit was Bruno Bock, formerly of Germany (before his US service). We'd appreciate any help. Thanks (and special thanks for the authors, organizers and supporters of this web site!!!) - Mike Huggins, Irvine, CA
