my father served in Korea what the second cavalry from July 18, 1950 to June 22, 1951<ú<ød since his passing 10 years ago I've held onto a lighter zippo lighter and I'll send you pictures I do not know the story behind it or how my dad got it he was NOT in Korea, Christmas 1951.
I seem to recall my father telling us that the general or someone very high up on the food chain came to visit at Christmas of 1950 and passed out these lighters that are all engraved......now that's bits and pieces of my memory from 20 + years ago but I have the lighter in my hand.
I'm wondering if either of you gentlemen or some of your readers would have more information on the lighter and if I CANNOT connect it to my dad...............
and I would like to find SOMEONE out there who WAS........
SERVING IN KOREA......AT CHRISTMAS?.............1951?............in the 2nd SIGNAL COMPANY???
Now =A know that it's a long-shot............... BUT IT WOULD DO MY DADS SOULdAND MY HEART GOOD IF WE COULD FIND SOMEONE STILL WITH US, THAT CAN CONNECT TO THIS LIGHTER, AND SHED SOME LIGHT ON ITS ORIGINd
Gentlemen after many years of digging into my fathers military past, I WANT to have THIS LIGHTER Rest in the hand of a man who will cherish it and the memories it brings.
Is there anything you can do to help? Or any suggestions for me in finding a suitable home? Now I know I could probably just sell this on eBay or something but my father and my pride wouldn't let me do that I've held it for 11 years now wondering about the story where it came from and how it came to be my father's possession and since I can't find those answers it's time for this to go home="

Comments: Looking for any information or photos of my Uncle Charles McGee who served with 2 ID Signal Company during WWII. He landed on Normandy Beach on D+1 with the DIV and served in all 5 campaigns during the war. He passed away in the 80s and there is nothing of his service that was saved by my Grandmother who has also passed away.

Comments: Sim was our "Houseboy" at the Radio Section. I had two letters from him after I left korea in 1952. I received no response to my 3rd and 4th letters to him. He was in communication with a potential sponsor in the U.S. I tried to locate this sponsor, but had no luck.
