Comments: I took my basic training at Ft. Jackson, SC Tank Hill.. Sent to Camp Gordon for signal school teletype operator. Graduated with high grade and was assigned to Camp/Ft. Gordon Post Headquarters in the Message Center. When a request came for two teletype operators to be assigned to the 20th Signal Corp. going to Korea in 1950, I volunteered. Was transferred to Fort Bragg, NC where we loaded all equipment and gear on a train. We then received orders that read, TO SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA AND THENCE TO: In San Francisco 5000 troops were loaded onto the General Pope transport ship and 14 days later we were in Japan and transferred to a smaller ship to Korea. The name of the corp. was later changed to The 8075th AGL. I served 18 months in the Message Center. I remember a Cpt. Meaney, Company Clerk was Ben. Peckareny from NY, also Eugene McNamara from Long Island, Floyd Houser from Knoxville Ky., Harold Crawford from Greenville, SC, &. Havent been able to locate any of my friends from the unit but still trying. Contact me at panana987@att.net or you can search for Clifford F. Hintson, Sr., Atlanta, Ga., Greenville, SC., US POSTAL SERVICE. And now in Easley, SC.

Comments: Served with the 20th AGL attached to the 8th ROK Division from End of 1951 to 1952, were part of the operation Rat Trap. Seeking out North Koreans that infiltrated the lines -- this is what were told. We were heading down to the southwest coast of Korea. I think that it was plans for a future jump off place to the big C.
