My cousin PFC Bernard C Almeida or Butch is a member of the 1st Loudspeaker & Leaflet Co 8239AU and is listed as: HOSTILE, DIED WHILE MISSING (MIA) ON 06JULY1953, REMAINS NOT RECOVERED
My family and I are looking for any information about butch, perhaps one of his buddies,
God willing, can reach out to us and provide some or any information about Butch!

Keywords: 22 San Jose Dr
We have little information about Butch. Have just recently reached out to the records center for his 201 file. We know he was a PFC in the 8th Army, 1st Psychological WarfareLeaflet Co and not much more. He was 21yrs old and is listed as KIA...No remains found.
We were just hoping one of his buddies could provide any information. Much appreciated, God Bless our Heroes and we Thank you and your families for all that you've done and continue to do.

I'm interested to know if Hill 854 is still available
to visit. If possible, I would like to visit it on
September 22nd and 23rd, 2012. It will be the 60th
anniversary of the night the hill was overrun after
my team and I broadcast. We lost our equipment but we
got out.

If anyone knows how I can get information about how I
can get there please let me know.

Thank you. Nick Soter

Comments: Looking for any PsyWar personnel who, while stateside, may have been assigned to either the 2nd Loudspeaker and Leaflet Co. or the Psychological Warfare Detachment, 5021 ASU. Both units were first at Fort Riley, Kansas. Later the Detachment became the 6th Radio Broadcasting and Leaflet Group and the 2nd L and L was attached to it. The units were then moved to the Psychological Warfare Center instituted at Ft. Bragg, NC. Later the 2nd became part of the 6th Gp., absorbing a large number of its Leaflet Companies personnel. Both at Riley and then at Bragg I handled the Enlisted records of the 2nd, Detachment, and then the Group. All these units were assigned to train replacement personnel for both FECOM and EUCOM.

Upon my arrival at Ft. Riley and assignment to the 2nd, my CO was Capt. Howard R. Clisham who later was assigned to Hq. I Corps G-3, APO 358, San Francisco, CA (Japan? - Korea?). If anyone had a contact with him I would appreciate knowing. His photo can be seen at http://members.fortunecity.com/2dlandl/b02.jpg .

Comments: Hello All, I too am seeking information regarding PFC BERNARD ALMEIDA, asn US51185512, of Bristol, Rhode Island. He was assigned to the US 8th Army's 1st Psychological Warfare Company (Loudspeaker and Leaflet while serving in Korea. He was initially listed as MIA on July 06, 1953, while defending Pork Chop Hill against the last major CCF attack of the conflict. His official status was later changed to MIA / Presumed Dead on July 07, 1954. From what little information I've been able to locate, it appears as if PFC Almeida was posthumously decorated with the BSM(w/V)for his actions during the 07/06/53 assault on Pork Chop Hill. If anyone could provide ANY information regarding PFC Almeida, and or the 07/06/53 action in which he was KIA, I will be most deeply appreciative. THANK YOU. Regards, Dom Pastore Jr.
