Texas Korean War Veterans will realize a dream Friday April 16th at 10:30 a.m. On that date the Texas Lone
Star Chapter of the Korean War Veterans will dedicate the Texas Korean War Veterans Memorial located on the NW corner of State Capitol Grounds.
The magnificent Texas granite obelisk dedicated to all Texans who served
in Korea is topped by a majestic bronze eagle. The memorial features five fins containing the engraved names of those Texans missing or killed in action in Korea.
Texas Governor George W. Bush will attend and
officially welcome attendees to the dedication ceremony.
Republic of Korea Ambassador to the United States, the Honorable Lee Hong-koo, will bring a message from the South Korean people.
Medal of Honor recipient and
Korean War veteran Colonel Joseph Rodriguez of El Paso will be the featured speaker.
Eight years ago the members of the Texas Lone Star Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association established a goal to raise the
funds necessary to build a State memorial honoring the 289-thousand Texans who served in the Korean War and the more than 1700 missing or killed in action.
We will accomplish the mission on Friday April 16th.
