On June 22, 1996, the Oregon Korean War Veteran's Memorial was dedicated. It is located on the N.E. Face of the Hill at the Cemetary. It is dedicated to the Oregon Veterans who participated in the Korean War. It also has inscribed the names of 290 fallen soldiers who gave their lives for God and Country.
Memorial President, Keith Richardson, was in charge of the Memorial committee. With donations of thousands of dollars, the Memorial became a reality. The Memorial was 5 years in planning. The Memorial was the idea of the Oregon Chapter of the Chosin Few. The Chapter felt it was time that we had a Korean War Memorial in this area. The Willamette National Cemetary in S.E. Portland is the largest Veterans Cemetary on the West Coast. Submitted by: Vic J. Saraceno for the veterans - ed. |
