My dad was a Navy Pilot during the Korean War. He flew AD-4"Skyraider",
off the USS Boxer. He passed away one month before my birth. Info on
Korean War is hard to come by. I honor the man and the patriotic person
he was. Great man, and honored his country.

Thank you for your site. A place to get info and to shed a few tears.
It's nice to feel connected to him through your acknowledgment of the
Korean War.

My dad was deployed on the USS Boxer (CV-21), sailing February 8, l952
operating with TF 77 supporting the ground troops. I know through my mom
that my dad's squadran was VA-65 and while in Korea was part of a Night
Attack Squadron.

Note: In my dad's flight long book I found VC-35 written at the
top of a page dated June l951.

This is how he earned his Distinguished Flying Cross for completing his
mission with a "wounded" plane and taking the opportunity to do to
unexpected damage to the enemy on his return the carrier.
