Hi, just dropping a note to say how much I enjoy your site. I'm looking
forward to watching it progress.
I've been reading the requests for ship information and if these people
knew that they could go to one of the better libraries in their area and
look up the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships, Volumes 1-8
(U.S.Government Printing Office) they could find the information they
wanted to on American Ships. There's also a DANFS on line:
(click) DANFS.
They can obtain photos of the ships they want by contacting the National
Archives (NNSP) or the Naval Historical Center. That's how I get my
information and photos (Actually I bought the 8 volume set a few years
ago, big bucks but well worth it) .
Lastly, one person made a comment about the USS Helena CA 75. The USS
Helena was the first Naval ship ever to receive the Korean Presidential
Unit Citation for her first tour of duty off Korea.

There's a very good book, "United States Naval Operations, Korea"
by James A. Field Jr. (U. S. Government Printing Office 1962--Out of
Print, I checked) that can be found at the larger libraries.
