I served in the 674th Bn 187th RCT and made both combat jumps
in Sunchon Sukchon & Munsani. Would like to hear from anyone
who served in the 674th.

Those were some good old days. Been trying to get a copy of a
book called " The Year In Review " the third anniversary of
the RAKKASANS in the far east.

I have a copy of the Fourth Year. Even wrote the Morizawa
Printing Co, Ltd. Beppu, Kyushu, Japan. No Luck. If anyone has

I WAS GLAD TO FIND A WEB PAGE FOR THE 187TH AIRBORNE UNIT. MY
FATHER SERVED WITH THE UNIT IN KOREA. HIS NAME WAS WAYBURN
JAMES PEARCE FROM DURHAM,N.C.

I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED MORE INFO ON THE UNIT BUT HAVE FOUND VERY
LITTLE IN PRINT. MY DID'NT DISCUSS MUCH ABOUT HIS COMBAT DAYS.I
GUESS HE DID'NT WANT TO LET MY MOTHER KNOW WHAT THE 187TH WENT
THROUGH OVER THERE.

MY FATHER DIED OF CANCER IN 1991.DURING HIS TREATMENT THE DOC
FOUND SHRAPNEL IN HIS BODY THE ORIGIN IS UNKNOWN BY HIS FAMILY.

WE THINK HE WAS INJURIED OVER THERE AN DID'NT SAY ANYTHING.

THANKS FOR PROVIDING THIS SITE. THE VETS OF THIS ''WAR'' (NOT
POLICE ACTION ) NEED THE RECOGNITION.

I KNOW MY FATHER WAS PROUD TELL PEOPLE HE SERVED THE KOREAN
WAR. AS THE NEW ARMY PHRASE BE ALL YOU CAN BE SAYS. HE WOULD
HAVE SAID BE ALL AIRBORNE. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I AM PROUD
TO BE PART OF THE 187TH AIRBORNE FAMILY LIKE THE REST OF YOU..

I am sending you this on behalf of my Father Fred P. Kurtz who
served in the above division. I am trying to find links that
we could get into, so that maybe he could find some of his old
buddies and reminisce. If you could give me any ideas of where
to go from here, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Join the RCT in Korea 1952 and left in Dec.1, 1954 from Camp
wood, Kumamoto Japan to go home. Yes , I was a gun bunnie,

Regiment, also both jumps, one at Hon River and one at
Taegu.( COL ) General Westmoreland Commanding and Gen
Lindquist took command of the Regiment 19 Oct.1953.

Have a year Book called " This Year In Review " 1953-1954 the
fourth anniversary. Looking for a copy of the third.

I am looking for any one who knew my father during the Korean War. His
name was Roesndo F. Beloz, but he went by the name of Russ! My father
died 10-12-94 in the VA Hospital in Brentwood Ca. I have a letter that
my father wrote to me about the war and the loss of many of his
friends.

In his letter he describes what being under fire meant in cold weather
and no food for days and the loss of more the 5000 soldiers in his unit
and only 1,200 of his unit came back.

If any one served with my father please reply to:
rblk@earthlink.net

Thank You.

information on his old Airborne outfit over the internet. Since he is a
computer illiterate I am taking the chance on writing to you to get some
information that may help him get in touch with some of his old buddies.

He was with the 187 regimental combat team 674 artillery in Korea in
1950. His name is David C. Gower and at the time was from Yonkers NY.

He is not presently on the internet so you can't get in touch with him
that way but his current address is
