Jan to Mar of 1953
From: DanCarson@aol.com
I just found this Web page, just taking a first look, and I'm delighted.
I was with the 304th Signal Bat. 8th Army
from Jan to Mar of 53, then with the 3rd Signal Co, 3rd Infantry
Division from April 53 to April 54.
Rcvd Air Medal & Bronze Star. Will continue to explore the project
and if I can help I'd like to.
I've also found an "OP Harry Survivors
Association". I took part in that battle, and am going to contact
them about membership.

I am interested in finding buddies from the 3rd Signal Company.
I was sationed in Korea from February 1951-February 1952.
I am interested in any information you can give me, especially
about the men who served with the Radio Relay or Carrier
Repeater Section.
Waiting to hear from you.

"Just found this Web Page in the last week or so. I was a member of the
3rd Signal Co, Photo Section, 3rd Infantry Division in Korea from
January 1953 to March 1954. Our 15 man unit and one officer made
photographs for reconnaisance purposes, as well as Public Information
Office photos to tell the Army's story of the War in Korea.
Would appreciate hearing from any members of the 3rd Signal Co during
that period of time. This outfit strung the wire, ran the radio
repairs, decoded classified messages, etc., etc. In every way we did
our duty to support the men on the MLR and the OutPosts at the base of
the Iron Triangle.
Think of our Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.!! That
wall is engraved with the images of US!! We are the unknown troops, of
that forgotten war, who helped make it possible for the guys on the MLR
to slap the communists down. Their first defeat in the cold war. Let's
talk."

I served in Korea from 2/53 till 6/54. I was attached to the 3rd Signal
Co. but worked in the Division Command Post in the Division Signal
Office.
I started out as a clerk and ended up a Staff Sgt. as the NCO in Chg or
Section Chief. We lived at the Division Command Post but ate our meal
at 3rd Sig.Co. So, I never got to know a lot of the 3rd Sig. Co.
people.
I recall that the Co. comander of 3rd Sig co. was Capt. Pots. The
Division Signal Officer was Col. KIng and the Asst. Div. Sig. Officer
was Maj. Thomas Bently Pitts. I also worked with a Sgt. MacAdoo, Sgt
Tom Hay, a draftsman named Sullivan. Two jeep drivers, Jones and
Carlson.
Also another driver from Eustis, NE named Duane Hoeftle. If you know
of any of these people I'd love hearing about them or from them.
If anyone out there knew people, who worked in the DSO office please
contact me. Please feel free to write me either via e-mail or regular
mail.
Sgt. Patrick B. Hibbard.
