Comments: I am interested in individuals who served alongside my Aunt Phyllis whilst she served her country for the Department of Defense: I am intrigued about her life and what she accomplished during her time in Korea. Our family rarely had opportunities to discuss what she did overseas.

Comments: Hi, My name is Tonja Cox, and I just finished a book on the homecoming experiences of Vietnam veterans. I am now actively seeking stories from men and especially women who served in Korea. I received several letters from Korean War veterans, asking me to help them get their stories out there to a public that has all but forgotten them. I want to do that now. If you are interested in participating in the writing of this book, please contact me at phoenixfire870@centurytel.net.

Comments: I am searching for my counsin whom I have never met for a family reunion. His birth name was George Govoni and was born sometime around the the early 1950's. His birth father's name is Thomas Govoni from Massachusetts and I do not know his mother's name. It is possible that his mother was an Army nurse but I am not sure. They married while on active duty in the Army, I believe they were stationed in North or South Carolina. Shortly after George was born, they divorced and our family has never seen or heard from George. I do not have very much to go on so I am hoping that someone reads this message and will be able to help me in my search for my cousin. George has 3 half sisters and 1 half brother and a huge loving family who desperately wants him to be in our lives. Please, if anyone has any information please contact me. Thank all of you who have taken the time to read this and best of luck in your search for loved ones. God Bless. Sincerely, Sue

Need Info on USAF Flt Nurse Insignia |
 |
 |
Bill McLeod wrote on 2006-03-09 13:40:50.0
Comments: Need to know the date the USAF changed from the WWII style AAF Flight Nurse Wings to the USAF style Flight Nurse Wings?
Also need to know how many different versions of the USAF style Flight Nurse Wing have existed since it replaced the old AAF Wing. For example, I have a late 1950's era USAF Flight Surgeon Wing which has horizontal lines in the back of the shield, however I have never seen a Flight Nurse Wing with that shield design. Current Flight Surgeon and Flight Nurse Wings both have a smooth background in the shield.
Also need to know the date the smaller size USAF Woman Officers Cap Badge was authorized, and what Badge was worn prior to it's introduction? The Female Hat included in the USAF Korean War Flight Nurse display has the larger size male Cap Badge on it.

Comments: Currently, I am in the process of creating a memorial to the memory of the 11 Nurses and the crew and passengers aboard a C-54 (VR-21), which crashed Oceanside of Kwajalein Island in the Marshall Islands, 19 Sept 1950. I have the base for a plaque donated. What I need is the plaque. Among my questions regarding these nurses is information specific to Nurse Margarte G Kennedy; her death is listed as 25 Sep 50 "in the states whereas, all my information concludes that no one survived and only four bodies were recovered.

Comments: Our Mother, Betty Ann Cook Monus was a "Oklahoma Singing nurse" in the Korean Conflict. She has passed away however we sure would like to know if any of her fellow collegues remember here. In 1953 she was on the front page of the daily Oklahoman dubbed as the "Korean singing nurse" that kept everyone happy as much as possible in a war. She was an Air Force Nurse. She was stationed out of Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma in the 50's. If anyone remembers her, please email. Thanks, Marilyn and Jeanie her devoted daughters

Any help you or your friends can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Would you like to express your admiration for, or say "thank you" to, a person or group you served beside? You have a chance to tell the stories that have stayed in your hearts and memories long after the fighting---stories that are usually overlooked in books about combat. Am compiling a brief set of pages on women veterans and am coming up
empty on Korea. And am almost ashamed to admit that I was on active
duty at that time - plus a few more years lasting till 1971 - but I am
at a loss on what was happening overseas.
any thing you can suggest would be genuinely appreciated.
