Comments: I joined VMF115 at El.Toro in June.1955 at that time many men were coming back from Korea. We were using the F9F Panthers. Our Squardon was called ABLE EAGLES,Which was marine Air Group 33 1st Marine Air Wing. I was with the Squardon until they got the F4D Skyrays in 1957 sometime after that they renamed the Squardon as a (Intersepter Sguardon)and changed the number letter, and they were shipped to Japan. While I was a hyd. mech.in the Squardon I cannot rember very many names and would like to contact anyone else that was in during that time,I was discharged in 1957,I would also like to know if VMF115 is still a active Squardon it was great being apart of it and the Corp.

receive e-mail from anyone who knows him as Blackie (C.H.Coppedge).

I know that he has lost contact with a lot of his friends and this would
be a way for any of them to write him at Blackie-USMC@juno.com

I really know is that he was from Halifax, NC and is now living

1953 while serving with the 336th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, 4th
Fighter Interceptor Wing, USAF. In that action where he shot down his
second and third MiG-15. Major Sellers held two Silver Stars (not one
as in some references), Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished
Flying Cross with Gold Star, Air Medal with Five Gold Stars.

We have gotten a contemporary map which shows us that XE was in north
western Korea and the adjacent area of China, but do not yet have a
1:100,000 map.

Again, my thanks.

Dear Sirs,

I wrote you a couple days ago re: VMF-143, the "Ragin' Cajun" squadron
from south Louisiana; I have since learned from one of the pilots in the
squadron that when half its pilots and ground crew were sent to fight in
Korea, they did so not as VMF-143, but rather joined VMF-115 and 311.

(I am a history student at Texas A&M and I am looking for historical
information on VMF-143, the "Ragin' Cajun" squadron out of the US Naval
Air Station at New Orleans; half of this squadron was activated on
March 1, 1951, and sent to Korea for combat missions . . . but did so
perhaps not as VMF-143, but another designation. Do you know how I
might find more information on this squadron? (I have spoken with a
couple of veterans from the squadron, but none have a written history or
historical documents re: the squadron, which is what I am now really
looking for.))

Sincerely,

Maj Donald F. Givens, 014677, USMCR, KIA Sep 10, 1952. Assigned to
Marine Vertical Fighter Squadron 115, Marine Air Group 33, 1st Marine
Air Wing.

I am looking for some specifics about the death of my father. He is
listed in the archives but I have been unable to get specifics. I
believe he commanded "Able Eagles", 1st Marine Air, Sep 10,1952 when he
and four or five others were killed returning from a strike.

He was flying a Panther jet at the time and I believe he was stationed
at Po Hang (spelling optinal). Would really appreciate any additional
info. I believe he was at Po Hang from July 1952 unil his death Sep 10,
1952. I don't know how many units had P9F Panthers at the time but he
was assigned to a USMCR unit in Providence, RI; activated and went to
Florida prior to going overseas.

Thanks.
