Comments: I have just finished reading ..MARINE..by James Brady and found Capt.Nicholas A.Canzona's account of USMC operations in Korea listed in the cited materials....as a 19 yr old Marine Corporal,I thought Lt.Nick Canzona was an out standing officer and coach, and was an exemplary Marine ,in the highest traditions of the Corps.
It would be a privilege and honor to hear from him,by e mail or any other way...I WOULD LOVE TO THANK HIM FOR HIS GALLANT SERVICE TO HIS COUNTRY AND THE INSPIRATIONAL LEADERSHIP he gave this grunt gyrene.

Comments: HONOR CLEAN is a new book about the Korean War--It is dedicated to all the men and boys of the Silent Generation, who gave of themselves so South Korea could be free. This is their story. It focuses on Marines of the 1st Division during 1951, but chronicles the entire war in nutshell. This is how it was, told by those who were there. Not the brutal baby killers recently portrayed by the Associated Press, and no phony poetic lyricism either. A memory for vets of the war, in memoriam for the dead. And a must read for a nation which contemplates doing it again, yet knows little about the human meat grinder that the first one was. Heed the past or repeat it...is the message for today. HONOR CLEAN can be previewed at web bookstores like Amazon and Barnes&Noble. Type title, then click cover for further details about book and author, a veteran Marine who served in the Land of the Morning Calm when it was turned into a graveyard.

Comments: I'm alerting your visitors to a new book about the Korean War--HONOR CLEAN. No phony poetic lyricism, it tells the story of the men and boys who fought the war from start to finish--debunks the late charges of murder and sets the record straight on some monumental historical fallacies. It's also an education for people who think war is such a great idea, in these current times. It tells us that war is not a game, not an academic subject, not a politcal toy--It is slaughter. The story is told by those who were there, and the book is dedicated to them, and was written by one of them. Heed the past or repeat it...Details about HONOR CLEAN are given at web bookstores such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Just click title, cover, or other icons for nutshell synopses etc.

Comments: I am writing a book on the early part of the Korean War..called "The Iron Brigade". It is about the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade who I feel was the key to breaking the NKPA's back. Even moreso than the Inchon Landing. The last three assaults on Obong-ni(NO Name)ridge was the killer jump for the "grasshoppers". I too see the connection to the Army of Northern Virginia. Go for it Major. Semper Fi.

Comments: I am a Major in the MC stationed in Okinawa with an obsession for learning as much as I can about the background of the SNCO and officers assigned to the Korean War's 1st Marine Division and their influence on our organization, attitudes, and doctrine. I am convinced that it is their Southern political traditions of self reliance and decentralized government that they carried over into the way we are organized and train which had the greatest impact on our battlefield success. Does anyone besides me see the connection? Can anyone point to some good reference material that may address this thesis? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Maj Grissom

I know several Marines that did save copies..but not to the extent

Ted,
Just received and read a great book on the Korean War, specifically
about Dog 7, 1stMARDIV. It is titled "Triumph on 1240" by
Col. R.D. Humphreys,
USMC(ret).
I believe this to be one of the very best books on the Korean War and
certainly should be in your bookseller area with the Amazon list you
maintain.
You can contact Col. Humpreys at colrdh@mtn-state.com
