He was assigned to the following units. Anglico 1st. Signal Bn., 1st MarDiv. Signal Co. 1st SigBn. 1st MarDiv. SigCoHqBn, 1stMarDiv., H&SCo 2ndBn 1stMar, 1stMarDiv. He embarked on the USNS General M.C. Meigs from San Diego on 22 Dec. 52 and disembarked at Inchon on 9 Jan. 53. He left Korea on 10 Feb. 54 aboard the USNS Marine LYNX. Some of the signatures that I can read on his record of service during this time frame are WO S.J. Shaw, Major W.E. Culp, WO P.W. Williams, WO R.W. Parmalee, and Capt. J.A. Slayton Jr., the Co. Cmdr. of H&SCo 2nd Bn 1stMar, 1stMarDiv. I am especially interested if anyone knows about his WIA while on the east coast of Korea prior to going over to Wonsan Harbor while spotting for a ROK Army Division. Thanks for any help you can give.

Div. and spotted for USS New Jersey, USS Missouri, USS Los Angeles, USS ST. Paul and others. He was wounded while spotting for the 11th ROK Div., possibly on the east coast of Korea, after which he went to the Wonsan area. He was last assigned to Hq. 1st. AAA AW Bn.(SP) at 29 Palms. Discharged on June 15, 1955. I'm looking for witnesses to his wounds. He never got his purple heart and I'm trying to get it. Thanks for any help you can give.

Comments: Dear Marines- My name is Joe Copalman and I am a graduating senior at Arizona State University. I am currently researching for a book I am writing on the history of supporting arms coordination in the Marine Corps. I've managed to track down many FACs and AOs who served in Vietnam but have no contacts with their counterparts who served in Korea. I know 1st ANGLICO was very active in controlling airstrikes and artillery fire in Korea and would be very grateful to anyone who could fill me in on this widely-neglected aspect of Marine operations in Korea. I've included my address, phone, and e-mail for anyone who wants to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank You.
Regards,
Joe Copalman

Comments: Truthfully, after all these years I can remember only one of me buddies names. However, was attached to 2nd Bat 7th and our liaison officer was a Lt. Simmons (USNR) - had "Simmons Sinners" on front of the radio jeep until I wrecked it while we were in Masan. O'Connor was a lineman who got conscripted as a machine gunner coming out of the Reservoir.
Dircted fire for a couple of cans and the St. Paul but got out of range fairly soon going into the mountains.
After the Inchon - Soeul Campaign was attached to the USA to help clean up the Kumpo Pennisula.
Sorry about the lack of names.

Comments:
I am looking for information about the 1st ANGLICO FMF. I recall there
weren't many of us. We were the first group the be sent to the South
Korean Marines. If you have any history or information regarding this
group my children and myself would be interested to have it.
Thank you,
SStg Johnny King
Editor Note: Johnny lost his brother; ROBERT KING in Korea, also a Marine.

My name is Jon Crask (Sgt, USMC, 85-90). I served in Korea, from the
DMZ to Pohang, and places in-between.
I have a friend named Bruno Podolak. He was an ANGLICO Marine during
the Chosin campaign. He has contact with several old friends, but I was
wondering if there might be others that he would know, but hasn't talked
to or seen in many years.
He's a real hero, and I would love to reconnect him with his old
buddies, if there are any still out there.
Thank you!
Jon Crask.
