Draftsman-H&S Co., 7th Marines-1953-1954

Comments: Looking for other Draftsman assigned to H&S Co., in 1953-1954 who may have known my father, Harry Sons, from Philly. Although he died in 1968, we have many photos of fellow Marines who served with him in Korea. Only the last names or nicknames are written on the back of the photos and I have listed some of the names as 'Keywords'. If you or a family member served during this time as a draftsman, I would be happy to send copy of photos. I also have many photos of two camp mascots; Waldo and Mad Dog, two stray dogs obviously adored (and spoiled) by the soldiers...many who posed with them.

CPL. NORMAN 'WHITEY' ROWE

Comments: Would like to hear from anyone who knew or served with my good friend, Norman "Whitey" Rowe. I believe he told me he was in the 1/7 Marines, maybe H&S Co. He doesn't talk about it much, but I think it's time we gather all the Korea Vets' stories before it's too late. I did a tour with the Seabees in RVN, so he knows I spent a lot of time with Leathernecks--maybe there's hope he'll come out of his shell! Semper Fi.

Looking for old buddies

Comments: I was 19 years old at the time. I don't really remember any of the names of my comrades. The only name I remember was a Lt. Fowler. Then when I went to headquarters Co to drive for the Field director, I believe his name was Pendleton. He rated a Sgt. as an assistant. I am 75 years old now and I wonder if there is anyone out there who remembers. I was in the regiment until Dec 1953, then I was rotated home, We came home on the MSTS GENERAL HOWZE. Would love to hear from anyone who was there. Or a relative of anyone seeking any info.

Did anyone serve with Beryl Jack Potter

Comments: Did anyone serve with BJ Potter. He was in the 1st Marine Division H&S Co Wire Unit 1st Bn 7th Mar He landed at Inchon Sept 1950 and was in Korea until Dec 6 1950 where he was air lifted to a Tokeyo hospital after making it out of the Chosin. In letters to my mother he mentions the following names (not sure on the correct spellings) Sgt Vondett, Terry, Eilles, LaBait, Jones, Ellenwood, Mac, Ray, Wilken He also served in WWII being wounded on Iwo Jima. Wounded at Chosin

Comments: Trying to locate anyone that may have known my father PFC. Charles R. Kotlowski. Wounded around Dec 5th 1950 was evacuated to Japan. I am a retired Marine however my father never discussed the war nor much of his time in the Marines, especially again the action in and around the Chosin.Mother said that Dad had many nightmares over the years and wouls only discuss those issues with Mother. Comments: My brother,Charles E."Bud"Veer served in Korea from June 1951-??. He enlisted in USAF after returning from Korea and retired in 1972. He also served a tour in Viet Nam from May 1968-May 1969 at Da Nang. He now lives in Kokomo, Indiana

BROTHER OF JOHN FRANCIS

Comments: my brother has been traumatized since the korean war he is 73 years old and is not able to speak about the war.he has suffered recurring frost bite from that time and cannnot articulate the suffering he went through, as is true of many vets of the forgotten war. i considr him a hero of that war, though he would not think of himself as one,of many, of those who fought in that cold, harsh place. His sacrifice and those of the many who fought there should be charisted and never forgotten!

Comments: My Dad was Sgt. James "Kelly" Noble, who served in Korea from Feb 1952-March 1953. He apparently was transferred to H&S in July 1952 after several months of duty in E/2/7 machine guns. Does anybody out there remember him, or the funny caricatures of buddies he used to doodle constantly? I'd love to hear from you. Dad passed away in 1982. Researching my Dad's Service

Comments: My father was PFC Richard "Dick" Marrone. He served in Korea in 1950 with the 1st Marines 7th regiment. I don't have much information to go by and I realize that this is a longshot but thought I would try to find someone with more information. I know that my Dad was a machinegunner and he was wounded in combat in Korea. Any information is welcome...Thank you.

Frank (Butch) Foley

Comments: Floyd Field was in the Marine Corp in Korea He was stationed at Camp Pendleton prior to Korea. I am not sure he saw much action, although I know he spent time there. He got out in '56 I believe, he fathered three children back in Iowa. He was in an automobile accident and died in 1961 in Northwood, Iowa.

Need Marine Help

Comments: I am the daughter inquiring of others who served with my father. My father has CML (chronic myelogenous leukemia) severely at this time. The VA does not seem to substantiate that this is a cancerous disease that can (50%) be a latent cancer, as it is in my father - from radiation residue/residual fall out, etc. I also have an uncle (daddy's brother) who also has a leukemic disease and served in the Korean War at the same time.

If someone can help me, my prayers for you and yours will forever be with HIM.

Comments: My father was TSgt James Final. His records show he participated in the Wensan-Hungnam-Chosin campaign, Northern Korea from 23Oct50-2Dec50. It also says he participated in capturing and securing Seoul 21Sept-7Oct.

Chosin Veteran Needs help with records

Comments: A very close friend, Benedict Daniel (Danny) Fix, was a navy corpsman assigned to the 1st Bn, 7th. Marines during the Nov/Dec retreat from Chosin Resevoir in 1950. He awakened in the Army Hospital at Osaka Japan on 12/05/50 where he was hospitalized until 1952. Was then transferred to a VA hospital in Los Angeles where he was released in 1954. All remaining records were lost in the 1973 fire, and he has never received a DD214. He has no computer but needs help locating old buddies and reconstructing his military records. ANYONE AT WON JU IN 51

Comments: i am looking for any information on my father or his unit in Korea he was in country in 1951 and was wounded. he was a machine gunner and was part of something called operation mouse trap. My father died two years ago and i have very little information on his time in the Marines. When i joined the Corps in 1987 it scared the @#$%$# out of him but he supported me.
