I am the daughter of Marine James "Jim" B. Dickson. I also have 2 uncles
that were Marines in Korea, Eddie "Buddy" L. Dickson and Wallace
Dickson.
I believe the younger Wallace went to Korea during the end of the war
or at "peace" time. Thank God all came back home in one piece.
My father joined at age 17 in 1947 and retired in 1956. He was in the
1st Div, 7th reg. artillery. I know that he went over on the General
Meegs once then back over on the General Pope transport ship. 1st stop
was Kobe Japan.
I believe after 2 "tours" he was later stationed at 3rd H&S ?? where he
played football, basketball and diver for the Corp.
Please contact if you recognize my father. GCDTYD@AOL.COM

Thanks to you of KWP for uniting Karen Dexter and myself. William
McClung was my father and we are now a reunited set of cousins. I would
be interested in hearing from anyone who knew my father. I was only 3
when he was killed at Chosin on December 7, 1950.
Thank you,
Mary McClung

From KWP:
7th Marine Rgt, HQ unit, reference page 333 to 336 of Eric Hammel,
Chosin, the Heroic Ordeal of the Korean War.
The Command group had been on the road for over 20 hours....rounding a
bend at 0200 hours Dec 7, etc....
p 335, MSGT William McClung, who had been captured by the Japanese a
Batann, and had spent 4 yrs as their prisoner, took immediate charge
on one sector of the forming line....
He dragged two men to the side of the road, but was shot to death as
he carried a third man through the firefight.
