Although he died in 1968, we have many photos of fellow Marines who served with him in Korea. Only the last names or nicknames are written on the back of the photos and I have listed some of the names as 'Keywords'. If you or a family member served during this time as a draftsman, I would be happy to send copy of photos. I don't really remember any of the names of my comrades. The only name I remember was a Lt. Fowler. Then when I went to headquarters Co to drive for the Field director, I believe his name was Pendleton. He rated a Sgt. as an assistant. I am 75 years old now and I wonder if there is anyone out there who remembers. I was in the regiment until Dec 1953, then I was rotated home, We came home on the MSTS GENERAL HOWZE. In letters to my mother he mentions the following names (not sure on the correct spellings) Sgt Vondett, Terry, Eilles, LaBait, Jones, Ellenwood, Mac, Ray, Wilken He also served in WWII being wounded on Iwo Jima. His sacrifice and those of the many who fought there should be charisted and never forgotten! My father has CML (chronic myelogenous leukemia) severely at this time. The VA does not seem to substantiate that this is a cancerous disease that can (50%) be a latent cancer, as it is in my father - from radiation residue/residual fall out, etc. I also have an uncle (daddy's brother) who also has a leukemic disease and served in the Korean War at the same time. If someone can help me, my prayers for you and yours will forever be with HIM. Honestly, I am looking for someone to come forward and substantiate their presence around my father! DAN BUCK wrote on August 4, 2001 City and State: REDONDO BEACH CA Unit: Service or Relationship: FRIEND OF VETERAN Comments: A very close friend, Benedict Daniel (Danny) Fix, was a navy corpsman assigned to the 1st Bn, 7th. Marines during the Nov/Dec retreat from Chosin Resevoir in 1950. He awakened in the Army Hospital at Osaka Japan on 12/05/50 where he was hospitalized until 1952. Was then transferred to a VA hospital in Los Angeles where he was released in 1954. All remaining records were lost in the 1973 fire, and he has never received a DD214.
