I am conducting a family geneological history, and am taking this opportunity to research my uncle's role in the Korean, and/or WWII pacific campaigns. Internet hits suggest that he was CO for E/2/7 (perhaps temporary) at some time. As a Marine myself, I would invite anyone to contact me with information on him through recollections, etc. Chosin Marines, it goes without saying, carry the higest respect of us all. I'm researching and compiling a scrapbook for him for Christmas. He just returned from the 50th Commemoration Ceremonies in Korea and I want him to have something really special to remember everything by. If anyone out there knows him, was with him in the war or at the commemoration -- I would love to have your comments to add to this book. Please forward to my email address with any photos you may have as well. Thank you! Keywords: |

RESEARCHING MY FATHER |
PATRICK CARNEY wrote on October 13, 2003 City and State: Unit: Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: I am currently researching my father's military career in order to design a plaque in his honor. His name was Cpl. Richard Thomas Carney. Trained at Parris Island Jan 51-Apl 51 (Second Recruit Battalion, Platoon 116, "Honor Platoon") Sent to Camp Pendleton until shipped to Korea in I believe july of 51 until october of 1952. His current plaque shows 1st marine division, 7th regiment, 2nd battalion, E and H and S companies. I had always heard he was a radioman. I would love to know if anyone can confirm this and also the time periods when he was in E company and when he was in H and S company. If anyone remembers him, and the hills and places he was at, it would be great to hear from you. Thank you all for your time.
