Keywords: I was at Bunker and Yellow and Cop2 in October 1952. Nevada Cities in early 1953. I lost my enlistment buddy who was with the 5th late March of 53 at Vegas. Flame-man 27th of March I believe. Jack Molin from Buffalo. You were tryimg to take back Vegas with the help of the 7th who was in reserve. Jack was KIA. Best aircraft= Corsair F4U. Does anyone remember my real good buddy Jack. He was 25th Draft also. We joined the Marines together. What made it so hard was that he was an only child. I'd like to hear from one of you guys from the 5th.

Comments: I joined At Co 5 on July 4, 1952 (22nd draft) and was there until June '53. I was in the tank platoon. I'm so old now that I can hardly remember names, places, dates, but I damn well remember events, and I wouldn't mind reminiscing about some of them with you. Names I do remember: Frank Astorino, whose hair caught on fire from muzzle blast; Phil Caudillo; (Joe?) Hebert, the bow gunner who drove us off the hill when Sal Tenorio got hit; Tom Fales, who was driving (I think) the first time we ever got hit; Norman Bodway, who LaBarge always called "Charlie Hash"; Double Easy Fox; the Navy chief (a medic whose name I don't remember) who ran up the hill with me with our own guys shooting at us when we were in reserve. My email is baptie3@astound.net. If you remember me, send me a note.. Hell, send me a note even if you don't.

Comments: My name is Larry Meyers, I am the son of John Meyers who served in Korea in 1953 and 1954. He speaks highly of Mike Lavaia and Doc Holiday and of course of Reckless. We are having a big birthday party for my Dad tonight. His birthday is November 10, 1933 and hailed from Philadelphia. He always remembers his days in Korea and the Corps. Good and bad. He is living in New York City and is helping me and my wife raise our young daughters. He will be 74 years old tomorrow and pls feel free to send me an e-mail if you would like to say hello to my Dad or just reach out and share a story about Cop1, Reckless fearlessly carrying 75 ammo, etc. Semper Fi gents. Other than that, I have many pictures, and a few letters I have just found written to home, 1 states he is about 3000 yds from bunker hill and the N. Koreans were sniping at them. Any info of anyone who knew him would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: I went TAD to AT-5 for a short time in 1954. It was Cpl. Reckless then. We'd go out for the day and return to a wrecked tent. She could smell any goodies and would find them - guarenteed! She had the run of the place as she had earned. A Lt. Louie (Chinese descent), myself and others were in a circle talking. Reckless came up behind one fellow and nuzzled the back of his neck. It scared the guy and he cussed Reckless calling her a blanking nag. The Lt. sternly let him know Reckless was a hero and had done more for the Marine Corps than he ever would. And since Reckless out ranked him any further verbal abuse would be cause for diciplinary action. I had the honor of being in formation when Cpl. Reckless was promoted to Sgt. The most beautiful horse blanket I ever saw. Semper Fi

Comments: I was a hospital corpsman with the 75mm Recoilless Gun Plt until wounded 12/07/50. I returned as replacement (1st Med Bn) late in March, 1951 but it was not the same--it just was not the 75's! The two years that I spent attached to the FMF provided me with memories and frindships that were bonded in combat. They endure to the present and are priceless.

Comments: Friendships formed in combat are far more meaningful than those formed anyplace else. Shared experiences have deeper meaning to all of us. Anyone in Anti-Tank Company, 5th Marines during those dates give me a holler via e-mail. We have a nice group going now; however, we want all who qualify to come on in. I am now retited after 30 years in the Corps[1949-1979]. Let me hear from you.

I am wanting to present these items to my dad at a ceremony in Iowa this coming June. I have always felt terrible about losing my dads things. Being a military man myself, I know now how important these things are to the individual. My greatfullness for our veterans is beyond comment. If you could help me in anyway.. I would so much appreciate it. I am also Amateur Operator KC7PJH just for the records. Thanks for your add in QST!
