Comments: I am looking for any one who knew my cousin Cpl. Richard Buttery who was killed June 3rd. 1951 by a handgrenade near the Punch Bowl area.. His sisters would like to find anyone who knew him.. They are still suffering after all these years and I would surely like to put them in touch with some of his buddies. I was on the Missouri and we bombarded Hungnam on Dec 23rd and 24th and I hope we helped some of you to get out that stinking place.

REMEMBER T.Sgt. STROPES @Chosin? |

Sherrill Stropes wrote on 2006-06-11 17:51:27.0
Comments: Aloha from the beautiful Big Island!
My dad, Marine Corps T.Sgt. Dale STROPES was killed at Chosin on December 3rd, 1950. He received the NAVY CROSS and SILVER STAR in Korea.
I was born 2 months later, so I never knew my dad and my mother's remembrances have always seemed limited. She is now suffering from severe Alzheimer's, so any chance of learning anything more from her about my father is gone. Also gone are all relatives whoever knew him in Illinois. My older brother was too little to remember Stropes (as he was called).
If you knew my dad, would you PLEASE contact me? I'd be most grateful. Semper Fi.....Sherrill Stropes

Comments: I am an author and wish to dedicate my next book to my uncle, PFC Lawrence L. Lewis, USMC, H-3-5, KIA 21 Sep 05.
I cannot find out the exact location of H-3-5 on that day. I only know that he was killed by mortar fire and had only been in the unit a few days.
Can anyone help me? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

photos of H/3/5 in a place called Kimpo? |
 |
 |
Richard Pierce wrote on 2005-10-13 00:00:00.0
Comments: My Uncle was Sgt. Robert Pierce and I have photos of h/3/5 at a place I think is Kimpo... at least that is what is written in the album. I have scanned the album and am willing to share the photos. Does anyone remember a Sgt. Pierce, it was his second tour as he was in WWII also. Uncle Bob and other were shot up pretty bad on a patrol and were retrieved by other marines coming to their aid... Johnny Saunger (Spelling of last name may not be correct) from Cincy was among the rescue party crew.
Thanks Dick Pierce
