Comments: Hello! My grandfather passed away recently. He was a corpsman
from 1952 to 53, and was awarded purple heart. His name was
Bobby/ Bob Hays. He was from southern Illinois, Johnston City,
Williamson County. At the beginning of the war, he served on the
USS Toledo supporting the Inchon landings, then received further
training at Camp Pendleton before going to Korea. I don't know if
this helps, but he talked about 2 friends named Carl and Robbie,
and always carried a can of peanut butter with him, even in combat.

Comments: My Father, Norman Gilley, was in Item company 3rd
Battalion 5th Marines in Korea. He recieved a Purple
heart in December 1950 for an ankle injury. He left
it on the beach when they were evacuated. The
company records of this were lost. I am trying to
find some one who can colaborate his claim so we can
have it replaced. The records of his other medals are
noted and we have gotten those the only one missing
is his purple heart. Any help would be appriciated.

Served with my father Pfc Robert Lehman. Hart was severely wounded
after relieving my father at a forward position. A USN Corpsman reported
that Hart's wound was fatal; he was included in a memorial service held in
the field. But Hart is not listed as KIA in any place I have looked, and the
casualty card, which I received a decade ago, indicates that Hart had been
evacuated to the USN hospital ship Hope for transport to US.

Comments: My father, Wayne Huston - Sgt. Weapons Company 3/5/1
served in the first half of 1952 and later attached to S4 H and S
scout observers 5th Reg. for the 2nd half of '52. Looking for
anyone who served with him. I have searched for a particular
friend of his named Juan Claun, but have not had any
success. Found this web-site by lucky accident. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
