Comments: My family is trying to find anyone who would have known Paul Tipton Baker. On September 24,1950, my father, LeRoy E. Schuff, was wounded, the bullet entering his right leg, going through, then lodging in his left leg. He said they were under heavy enemy fire, when Pfc Paul Tipton Baker came to him and rendered aid. Pfc Baker was then, himself fatally shot. We are also trying to find any of his family and where he is buried. Without his help, my father would not be with us today.

Comments: I'm looking for very detailed information about the Inchon landing of 15 sept. 1950. I need it for my history project at school. I'll need info about the preparation, the landing itself, the following days, the mood among the soldiers, tactics, your mission etc. I'll be very thankfull to the person(s) who wishes to tell me about those days. Other stories will also be very welcome because I'm always interested in the experiences you guys had and because I'll be joining the Dutch marines myself in the near future. I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours,

Brian Knoester

Comments: Any one who served in B co 2-5 under Capt Richard Bland in regards to my father;Frank W Dolly who was wia 21 Sept 1950 while crossing the wreckage of Kalchon River bridge. My father passed away 19 April 2004. He talked about the war only after dementia had set in and he was jumping back and forth from the past and present. Never complaining and never talking about those days in Sept 1950 I am curious if there were any of the Marines still around. My father received wounds to his stomach and had his hip and leg shattered. Baker co took heavy casualties that day but I'm hoping somebody is still around to tell the story that my dad couldn't finish. Respectfully, Frank W Dolly Jr

Comments: I am looking for anyone who happened to serve with my uncle during the Korean war, U.S. Marines. I know very little about him and what he did. I would love to learn more!

What I know is, he had died during the war from some sort of illness (disease) that was going through his unit. I do have a few pictures of him with his unit (he appeared to enjoy smoking his pipe). I know before he had enlisted in the "corp" he loved to play the saxophone.

Again, I would like the opportunity to know more about him, so that I maybe able to share it with my children some day. I too served in the military, and would be very interested in finding out about his unit, shipmates, etc.

Thank you.

Comments: Comments: Semper Fi Marines! I saw these names on the BB and as a former member of D/2/5 in Korea I had to respond. I arrived during Operation Killer, was assigned to lst Sqd, 2d plt, under Sgt. James Renshaw. Red bearded Capt. Smith was the CO Cdr, Gy Sgt Fristock was the Comp. Gunny (KIA-7Jun51; Navy Cross ),( my Plt Sgt was named Bauer (I think). There was also a Sgt Beeson We had several small firefights until 22 April when the brown hit the fan on the 2d Chinese Offensive, then the race out of the trap, the return fight through Hwachon Resv, into Inje and the stand down on the Banks of the lovely Soyang-gang. Followed by the attacks into the Punchbowl, Hill 812, (Lukes Castle) the "first ever" heliocopter lift on #882, and 2nd Korean winter. The unending 6x6 ride shift to the West Coast and for me in Aril of '52, I was outtathere! Hope I have rung some bells? Hope to hear from anyone. My good friend Clifford D. Colby who went to Easy Co. when we got off the ship has told me about some great re-unions in E/2/5 and I am kinda envious we don't seem to have a D/2/5 reunion. Colby and I stayed pretty close after Korea, and spent two yrs at Mare Island, CA together. Both of us stayed in for career Marines. Have alson been in contact with Jack Kindig, (Silver Star) my old sqd ldr, and On my second tour in Vietnam, as Captain, I had the profound privilege of becoming the Co Cdr of Co. D., 5th Marines. The structural changes from three company battalions to four moved Co. D into the 1st Bn, but what the hell, Co. D is still Dog Company to me. Still trying to Find George Overlock, of Bangor, Maine, Goehle, Lonergan, Fisher

Comments: Leonard Leslie Little (DOB 4/29/32), my dad who would never talk about the korean war has disclosed he is one of the "Chosin Few", had been trained in demolitians and that is all he would say. I think I can help him talk if I get more information. Can anyone give more information on the involvement of the 5th Marines during the Korean War?

Comments: This information was found in a Bible written by my father after his death. There was hardly a day that went by that he did not tell his children and any who would listen of the brave men he fought with including the day he died in 1982. I am seeking anyone who remembers him and requesting stories. We miss him even now 20+ years later.

Comments: My father was a corpsman in the Korean War 1952-53, E-2-5 1st Marine Division under Col. Walt. My father is STILL having an extremely hard time dealing with his memories.....nightmares, screaming in his sleep, etc. Does anyone happen to remember him? Or did anyone else serve when he did? My father is president of a local Veterans group who is currenly building a Veterans Memorial. My father has just recently begun to talk about his time in the war, so if anyone would like to get in touch with him, PLEASE email me! Thank you all! And GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Comments: I'm searching for any and all info, including, friends of, or maybe just photos of, Eugene Obregon. He trained at Camp Pendleton, in San Diego, California. He was part of Company G, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was a friend of another private at the time named Bert Johnson. PFC Obregon was fighting in Korea in 1950, and was killed in Seoul on September 26th, 1950, while saving Bert Johnson from enemy fire. If you have any info, please contact me. Thank you very much, and I would like to thank all veterans for your sacrifices. I will remember.

Comments: Hello, My name is Ira Martin. I've recently began the task of documenting my Grandfather, Donald Martin "Marty"s involvement in Korea. He arrived in Korea April 1951' He was promoted to sergeant upon arrival and commanded the 1st division 11th regiment 1st Battalion Baker Battery (Gun #4?) and served till the truce talks stalemate July 1952'. Its recently come to my attention He may have fired in support of E-2-5 and or G-3-5. He recieved 6 medals altogether not/inc the new unissued Rok medal. He has yet to receive it. He is interested in any serious contacts from baker battery and any forward observers he might have encountered. He's sad the names are gone from memory; Even then, most were nicknames never to be used again off the Peninsula. I've begun documenting his divisions movements during his service with what limited resources I can get. Any Information or Resources would be greatly appreciated and reciprocal if wanted. I've got a couple maps off the web and some random references to the Marines 11th Artillery in some actual diary like info and military docs. My Grandfather has some amazing stories and even more I'd like Help to unlock. My recent interest has already begun to get things going. If interested or know of my Grandfather please contact me imartin@nycap.rr.com for additional contact info. Any Information will be extremely appreciated. I look forward to a serious response. Sincerely, Ira L Martin
