At a point, Marvin served with 1st Provisional Marine Brigade, Korea 1950 with Brigade A.
He served as a Drill Instructor at Parris Island, prior to being sent to Korea.
He passed away and is/has been my absolute personal hero. I would like to communicate with any other Marine who may have served with him.

Comments: It was my privilege to serve with some of the best and bravest men I have ever had the honor of knowing. Cpl. Daniel Ballem was one of my best friends. He lost his life trying to pull our wounded platoon leader, Lt. Charles Cooper, out of the line of fire on Hill 907. The list is long of the KIA and WIA who served with honor and courage. I was in the first squad, third platoon, of B (Baker) Company, 5th Marines. Our Officers and Platoon Sergeants were mainly WW2 vets who knew how to lead against the N. Korean and Chinese we came up against. We were fortunate to have such dedicated Marines as our leaders.
Keywords: Hill 907 and a number of others. I would like to pay tribute to Cpl. Wilfred Jaussaud, a WW2 vet of Saipan and Tinian, who took a number of us young and inexperienced Marines under his wing and taught us how to do what we were sent to Korea to do. He came through WW2 without a scratch and was wounded twice in Korea - his last wound sent him home.

He was from Maine and would write home joking how the Maine winters toughened him up to stand the bitter cold in Korea. He was killed in action June 16, 1951. Dearly loved and missed always.

Comments: For those who are interested in finding the casualty list of units during the Korean War, the American Battle Monuments Commission (www.abmc.gov) has this information. When you go to their website, click on "Korean War" on the left under "Search ABMC Databases". Immediately below the displayed Search box on the next screen, there is a link button "UNIT". Click on "UNIT" and the next screen will show another Search window and instructions on finding USMC unit Honor Roll. Hope this helps you.

He passed away in June of 2001. As I have seen on so many of these posts, he shared little information with any of his family. I believe he was in the 5th Marines, 1st Batalion. He faught in Inchon, and Chosin. Thanks, Joe

Comments: I was in Charlie Company, 1st batallion, 5th Regiment,1st Division. I was served north of the Imjin River between 1953 and 1954. I remember three names: Morland "Mo" Jenkins, "Dad" Stevens, and Casanova. Bob Mathias was my Drill Instructor at Parris Island. Due to the extreme cold, I now have problems with my feet (pyrodermia of the skin)in addition to nerve damage. Anyone out there with similar problems? Does anyone remember helicopters or airplanes spraying chemicals are the DMZ around this time? I am not sure if it was Agent Orange, DDT for mosquitoes, or an unknown chemical that was used. I do remember the spraying and was wondering if anyone has has the same memories. I have read conflicting reports of this activity. It is widely reported that Agent Orange was sprayed in Korea but much later than the 1953 or 1954 time period I am mentioning.

Comments: My brother and I are looking for information on Donald Turner (our uncle). He was killed manning twin 50Â’s when he couldnÂ’t raise the gun height enough to shoot over the bodies of the enemy and they were over run.
Some one in the 1st Marine Division - either 5th Battalion 7th Regiment or 1st Battalion 7th Regiment recounted this to John Charles Cheek: "He told me that story one sunny day in the summer of 1953. We sat in the trench outside my bunker, smoked and shot the bull for 15 or 20 minutes. I think he was there to buy a bottle of whiskey from me."
My Dad was never able to talk about his favorite brother and we would like to keep the family history intact. Our other Uncle is very old now and would like to hear about Donald.

The album had been lost for more than 45 years and I had forgotten the names of most of them but I did write the names (Mostly last names) on the backs of some of the pictures. They brought back many memories that I had pushed to the back of my mind. Now I would like to see if anybody remembers me and/or the buddies that I have listed here: PFC Gene Feldman, PFC Scott, CPL Miller, PFC Cruz, PFC Gregory, CPL Bill Cross, Sgt Loughln, PFC Vaughn, S/SGT Reese, CPL Fry, PFC Myers, PFC Ken Deboom. I landed in P.I.March 1951...Went to Camp Pendleton and then to Korea in the 13th draft. Was wounded in May 1952. Returned to Camp Lejune and was dicharged March 1954. Ther's a lot that I can't remember of those days so I hope someone out there will recognize me or one of my buddies and fill me in.

The cercumstances are vague, but I've heard he was killed by artillery fire while he was out getting fuel for soem sort of heater. I don't know if that will ring a bell with anyone.
I am looking for any information with respect to hisa career in the Marines, and would like very much to speak with someone who knew him and served with him overseas.

Comments: I'm trying to verify my father's KW service, and would appreciate any sources wherein I can do this, or if any one out there may have served with him. Information I have up to now suggests he was in the 1/5, though as a reservist, I thought the bulk of them were in the 7th.
Again, any and all info available would be greatly appreciated.

According to my dad, he was responsible for keeping a lot of his troops alive. My dad can not remember Mr. Blaylock's first name, but it is believed that he was from Memphis, TN. Any help locating this fellow marine would be greatly appreciated

He was wounded on May 31st, 1951. My mother needs information about my fathers experience on this date when he was wounded because the V.A. has lost all of my fathers records and my dad has since died of complications stemming from those injuries. If anyone can help us we would appreciate it. My dad was the greatest man I have ever known. He truely was my hero. Thank you. Sincerely, Mayr Ann Winslow.
