Seeking Information on Charles Ronald Briggs |

Comments: Hi,
I am looking for information about my Uncle, Charles Ronald Briggs. He died of wounds in while in Korea on March 5th, 1952. The cercumstances are vague, but I've heard he was killed by artillery fire while he was out getting fuel for soem sort of heater. I don't know if that will ring a bell with anyone.
I am looking for any information with respect to hisa career in the Marines, and would like very much to speak with someone who knew him and served with him overseas.

Comments: I took these two kids (I was 18) out on an outpost near Bunker Hill as part of my fireteam somewhere between 10/52-1/53. They took a direct hit in their hole with a 60mm mortar round. Reports had it that one lost one leg the other both. I've thought of them often.

He left Camp Pendleton for Korea in July 1950 with the 1st Marine Reserve and fought in all the major battles. He has mentioned a friend named Tommy, another named Togleman from Baton Rouge and a Sgt. Baker. My father is from Massachusetts.

He was wounded on May 31st, 1951. My mother needs information about my fathers experience on this date when he was wounded because the V.A. has lost all of my fathers records and my dad has since died of complications stemming from those injuries. If anyone can help us we would appreciate it. My dad was the greatest man I have ever known. He truely was my hero. Thank you. Sincerely, Mayr Ann Winslow.

Comments: On behalf of a friend who is a Korean War Marine veteran [West Coast Marine], I am trying to find out if Sgt. John Johanix or Johannix of Hibbing, MN, who served between 1950 and 1954 in the Marine Corps and in Korea, is still alive or whether he made it out of Korea alive, even if he is no longer living now. If anyone has information about this Marine, please send me contact information, and I shall pass it on to the Marine Korean War veteran who is looking for Sgt Johanix.
